October 2012 was the beginning of it all in Columbia. There wasn’t a #BRICKPILE or shovel flag or many men downtown that even had a clue what F3 was or better yet, what it could mean in our lives. It has helped many Sad Clowns (YHC being one of them) get off the couch and become better men, husbands, fathers, sons, brothers, Uncles, parishioners, and more importantly leaders in our community. Along the way, we’ve made some of the best friends we never even knew before.
We’ve participated and even hosted CSAUP’s like Mud Runs, #AMPHIBIOUS, #COTTONMOUTH, Palmetto 200, Blue Ridge Relay, Bourbon Chase, Tuna Run, Get In the Pink, MGC Long Run, Hot Summers Night, Governor’s Cup, Go Ruck Events, Triathlons, a RAGNAR event, and rocked them all!
Additionally, we’ve hosted standing lunches for PAX to gather in the daylight and not workout. As well as Hump Day Happy Hour (HDHH) for PAX to relax and grab a beverage or 8 but who’s counting? We’ve had Christmas parties to include M’s and 2.0’s. There was even a Prom that almost happened. That had some interesting ideas swirling throughout the gloom and twittersphere. One evening last spring an event at River Rat was a huge hit just to hang out with families and have a beer.
Finally, we’ve come together to support one another in good times as well as tragedy. We all need to have that faith to believe in something bigger than ourselves and want to encourage others to experience what we’ve all grown to know as F3NATION. Men throughout Columbia and beyond need the bond to trust in one another because we’re all going to experience something in our lives that we can’t handle alone.
The 20th of this month marks the 6th anniversary of F3Columbia and we’re going to celebrate with a convergence at the original location, Dreher High School AKA the BRICKPILE. This will be a different type of convergence that will allow each attending PAX the opportunity to experience each type of workout we offer downtown. There will be a leader positioned in a certain section of campus leading 4 workouts. PAX will immediately count off 1, 2, 3, and 4.
1’s will go to Bootcamp workout for 15 minutes.
2’s will go to a Kettlebell workout for 15 minutes.
3’s will go to a Ruck workout for 15 minutes.
4’s will go to a Run workout for 15 minutes.
At the end of the 15 minutes all PAX will then rotate to another station for 15 minutes until all 4 types of workouts are complete.
We’ll all converge at the end for BOM and a prayer like normal. This will give everyone a chance to experience something different if you’ve never attended all 4 types of workouts. If it’s only for 15 minutes. Heck we can all do something for 15 minutes. Modify if needed.
Bring an FNG and join your fellow brothers from 0700 – 0800 at Dreher High School (aka BRICKPILE) for this special occasion. Finally, we’ll have coffeeateria at Lizard’s Thicket for any PAX to attend.
