ChickenPaw

The name of todays Q and workout stems from a picture posted on the Ambush board yesterday.  Apparently some chicken lost their feet yesterday in Red Bank.  After many questions and much deliberation, it was decided that there was no need for further investigation.  It was Red Bank and not so uncommon for any normal Monday in said place.  YHC was mostly disturbed that the toenails of said chicken feet were painted.  Eggo had many more questions but he is still getting acclimated to west Lexington.  Anyway, 13 pax were introduced to a new routine today that will for ever be known as chicken paw.  Below is what went down this morning.

Weather- 36 and fresh.

Mosey to the block pile and each pax grab one block and three bricks.  We really need to clean up the brick pile. Head to the football field for the Thang:
Chicken Paw
All the blocks and bricks are spread across the 20 yard line.  We broke up into 3 teams and lined up in the endzone.  Each team had to recover as many coupons from the 20 yard line as possible.  The bricks were worth one point.  The blocks were worth 2 points.  To get a block you had to give a brick.  Each team had rotate pax to retrieve coupons.  That happened between sets of exercise.  Each team had to perform 100 merkins, 100 squats, and 100 gas pumps.  Only 10 reps could be done, and all pax on the team had to complete before a coupon could be retrieved.    When a team was finished, or all the coupons collected, the game was over.  We had a tie…

Then we circled up for Ambush Duck Duck Goose.   It was fun.  No one was injured.  Pax jog in place while one pax circles the group clockwise.  Every “duck” called out has to do a squat.  When goose is tagged, he runs counter clockwise trying to get back to his spot first.  Blocking is legal.  Spearing is not.

After the dust settled we returned the blocks and bricks and moseyed back to the flag for Mary.  All IC x 10

-Bankers can’t count and will try to cheat you…but cheating won’t get you anywhere in life.  Except a big pile of worthless blocks.
-On the bright side, Paper Jam has enough blocks to start a new hydro plant.
-The first rule of  fight club….
-The plural form of quail is quail or quails.

God’s Shaping Tools

Romans 12:1-5

Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship.[a] 2 Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. 3 For by the grace given to me, I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think. Instead, think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one. 4 Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function, 5 in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another.

God’s kindness is demonstrated by the fact that He doesn’t leave us in the condition we were in before salvation. Throughout our life, the Lord uses certain tools to shape us into the image of His Son.

God’s Word. We grow in Christ when we spend time reading the Bible, because Scripture is like food that nourishes our soul (Matt. 4:4). Yet sadly, some Christians rely only on the Sunday dinner of the Word served up by a pastor.

Prayer. We learn to depend on the Lord by coming to Him with our needs and concerns as well as our praise and gratitude. As we regularly draw near, our intimacy and love for Him grows. Instead of seeing prayer as a duty, we’ll realize our time with the Lord has become a delight.

The Church. The body of believers is another important factor in our transformation because that’s where we learn to love one another.  It’s also where we find encouragement, receive biblical instruction, and experience accountability.

Our culture has no shortage of worldly voices and pressures that fill minds and influence behavior. But when we intentionally schedule time for God, His Word, and His people, He does His transforming work in our life.
