Trick or Treat at The Arena

YHC was glad to come over to one of our newest AO’s to Q on a fine Halloween morning.  There were no treats for the faithful pax that showed up, but we worked hard.  The only tricks were a couple of the Ambush favorites of Gas Pumps and Monkey Jumpers.  The men over here worked hard enough to enjoy some candy corn this evening.

Walk in the Counsel of the Godly

There are times in life when we may need to seek the counsel of another to find a solution to our problem. And of course, we all need times of fellowship with each other.

Make sure you heed these divine instructions when seeking counsel or friendship: “The tongues of those who are upright and in right standing with God are as choice silver; the minds of those who are wicked and out of harmony with God are of little value” (Prov. 10:20).

That certainly is the truth! In other words, don’t go to those who are out of harmony with God; go to the godly. The counsel of the righteous is as choice silver, but the counsel of the wicked is worthless.

The Bible says you’re blessed when you seek out godly counsel: “Blessed (Happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes]…nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather” (Ps. 1:1).

Blessed is the man who doesn’t spend his time with the ungodly. He knows that close association with such people only adds to his challenge of walking uprightly before the Lord.

Here we see that the kind of people you fellowship with also makes a difference in determining the outcome of your life. You see, the ungodly will pull you in another direction. You should be keeping company with those who love God and are pure in heart.

The best thing you can do is to find people who love God more than you do and keep company with them. You’ll put yourself in a position to grow spiritually as their godly influence pulls you up to their level.

On the other hand, if you spend time with ungodly people, they will continually pull you down. That’s why it’s so important to fellowship with those who are upright and in right standing with God (Prov. 10:20 ).

“What happens to the person who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly but in the counsel of God? He shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity]” (Ps. 1:3).

That is the prosperous life that God intends for us to live! But it all depends on how we decide to live.
