BOM/Devo

A thought crossed my mind after the helicopter that claimed the lives of 9 people, including Kobe Bryant.  Not that Kobe was any more important than the other 8, but globally he was definitely more well known.  He was known as many things and by many names; some called him The G.O.A.T, Mamba, 8, 24, etc.  However, one thing stood out after his retirement that I will make an assumption on, the greatest name he earned was Dad.

His love for his daughters stood out, it was apparent that he loved being a Dad.  Then I thought about that as it relates to me, while I don’t have names like The G.O.A.T I have earned or been given my own set of names.  Names like Matthew, No Help, United States Marine…but just like Kobe one of the most important names I’ve earned is Dad.

It’s a name I have to earn each and every day, sometimes it’s easy and sometimes it’s difficult.  It’s hard work, but it’s worth all the effort.

Then as I kept thinking I realized that our Father, or as Grout likes to appropriately call him, Dad has something we don’t have to earn.  It’s something that will never fade, there’s nothing that we can do to increase or decrease it, and that’s God’s love for us.

Romans 8:37-38 – “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus or Lord.”
