7 Pax arrived at RBHS for Garmin’s VQ of Stride. There were grand plans involving an iphone, an app, and some bluetooth speakers…and it worked for a little while.
jog down to the football field and warmup two laps
The Beep Test:
Start on the goal line.
On the first “beep,” run to the 20 yard line.
On the next “beep,” run back to the goal line.
The amount of time between the “beeps” decreases.
Run until you miss a beep.
Ranger was the winner today, making it to round 11, 1 beep in. What should we call the person who lasts the longest? The Beeping Winner? Survivor? (because everyone else was eliminated). I don’t know, I feel like there could be something there. If you have an idea, post in the comments.
Not sure why I have so much trouble inserting links on backblasts, but the results are available here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhHco_4u69AsdDhGZUIyYTdHT2NpcUhPNXU0YkhKZ2c&usp=sharing#gid=3
After the Beep Test, do two laps of mosey recover.
After some technical difficulties (recalculating), YHC disconnected from the speakers and held his iphone which was now only vibrating instead of beeping. YHC had to call out the beeps. Sigh. This all went much more smoothly in YHC’s head.
Modified “Distance Beep”:
Start at 100 yard runs,
when you miss, sit one out and switch to 90 yard runs.
When you miss again, sit out one and switch to 80 yard runs, etc.
Repeat until time expires.
With a little bit of tweaking, this might make for some good workouts. Gotta make sure it doesn’t cut out again though.
-There was a little too much “Garmin recalculating” for YHCs liking, so thanks for being the lab rats.
-Good work by the Pax today, the beep test is not only a good measure of fitness, it’s a good workout too. That thing is tough.
