5 Years and Counting

5 years…when you say it like that, you wonder where it went, to loosely quote Morgan Freeman in Shawshank Redemption.  YHC remembers that morning, 2/9/16, like it was yesterday, because in some ways, it feels like it WAS yesterday, while in others it feels like I have known these men all my life.  The brotherhood that one can feel with this thing is unimaginable in our society today, with all the division, untrustworthy people, and a world that has lost its morals, that can be seen everywhere.

These men were put into my life for a reason.  If for nothing else, it was to show me that there ARE good people, with good intentions, that truly want the best for me and my family.  There are people that absolutely believe in God and want to live life to serve Him by making YOU better.  These men seem like throwbacks to a time gone by where sticking to your word and promises being kept meant something.  The selfless acts I have seen, the encouragement I have felt, the resistance to quitting because the guy next to you needs you to stay in it, and bonds that have been built are all reasons for me to believe in what our Creator sincerely wants out of all our lives.  Thank you, men of F3 who are too numerous to name, for doing the Lord’s work and being who you are.

Here’s how it went today:

Devo:

YHC’s Devo is really just a continuation of what the introduction to this backblast spoke about.  There is no Biblical quote or philosophical speech for this, only one man’s observation of the things that he has experienced.

Mentally, YHC is in a difficult place because of disappointments at his work.  Which in the grand scheme of things, doesn’t really mean anything at all.  It is still hard to come to terms with that, but these men are pushing me through it whether they realize it or not.  I’m not sure how I would be without their support and that of my family.  YHC realizes that it doesn’t matter who you are from 9 to 5, it matters who you are Sunday to Sunday.  There are 168 hours in a week.  Who you are for 40 of those hours is less than a third of your week.  What are you doing to make a difference in your community?  For your family and friends?  Your work will replace you and they won’t miss a beat.  How are you making a difference that will last for those who can’t and don’t want to replace you?  That’s what these men have shown me.  That’s what God has put in front of me.  Thanks to Kyle Enders (E2) for EHing me 5 years ago.
