5 PAX for some Carriage Hills

5 PAX braved the cold for a trip to Carriage Hill.

Left onto north lake, cross at wingards as a group, enter Carriage Hill second entrance, took all lefts then ended up back at 378 at the first entrance. Left to Andrew Corley intersection, cross street then back to the church. Few laps in the parking lot as needed. 4+ish miles.

Count-a-rama, Name-a-rama

Prayer requests- my phone didn’t record so I don’t have everything.

-Buttermakers request for a friend at their church grieving the loss of her husband a year ago

-Simon Says grandmother

Devo (used before but new to some)

He must increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30

Prior to this verse we see both Jesus and John the Baptist baptizing people. Looks like some sort of argument or discussion between some folks about purification and being baptized- that essentially Jesus was doing the work of John the Baptist, or that their work was somehow competing. John the Baptist nips that in the bud pretty quick. He emphasizes that he isn’t the main show (not the groom “he who has the bride is the groom” v 29), but that he was sent ahead of Jesus. And then says verse 30.

Application to our day-to-day thing- in our conversations, disagreements, opportunities, etc… I think it can applied in this way- “is what I’m doing making someone who knows (or I’ve told that) Jesus lives in me increasing their perception of Jesus in me or decreasing their perception of Jesus in me?” So if I win that argument but at the cost of making that person question my love for Jesus based on the way I acted, words I said, etc…, have I won anything?

Ask God to put on our hearts a humble submission to His kingdom and His rise. We as men are competitive, prideful, stubborn, etc…, but lets ask God to pull any prideful and self-righteous thoughts or words out of our hearts so more of Him can be put on display.
