Tires, 4 corners, useless history facts, and scripture = 4 year anniversary Q

A little over 4 years ago, several things happened all at once that led YHC to F3. Not far removed from moving back to Lexington from Spartanburg, I wanted to find my place somewhere between work and family. Sure I had some friends from high school and we had started going to our church, but every sad clown knows that something is missing, even if they won’t admit it. About this time, a local tv anchor did a story on participating with F3 Columbia. My M saw the story and commented that she thought I would enjoy that if they had it in Columbia. A few weeks later, my family bumps into Ken Doll and his family at a South Carolina basketball game. He invites me to go to F3 at Lake Murray. As a former college football player (yeah kickers and punters are part of the team too), YHC jumped at the opportunity. On a cold January morning at Depot, 45 seconds into an Indian Run, I remember thinking “so this is how it ends”. Fortunately, it didn’t and here we are 4 years later. So, let’s celebrate the way we know how; wake up early, have a good workout, with a lot of laughs and fellowship. Read on to see what took place…..

Sit blocks down and get all big tires to goal line.

Partner up or team up depending on size of tire.

Flip all the way to other goal line. Once there, 20 step ups each leg, then 25 sit down stand ups.

Flip tire back. ***Sidenote: Stalker, Meter, Meatball, GraveDigger and YHC all agree that one tire there needs to find a new home.

T-Claps to the men from Ambush who ran over from Ambush to personally offer well wishes. Cobains for us thinking we were originally being raided by FiA. Next time, grab a tire and get to flipping with us.

Put tires behind Con-Ex box, put bricks up.

Mosey up to track, around the track to the first of 4 cones set up for four corners. Upon arriving at each cone, there will be an index card that has something that happened in history on January 24th, a scripture relevant to each of us, and an exercise.

Cone 1 – On this date: 1781 – Francis Marion aka “The Swamp Fox” raided 200 british defenders in Georgetown, SC. JJ, being from Andrews, SC right down the road, announced that he remembers it well. Scripture: 1 Peter 2:17 “Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the King”. Exercise: 25 squats OYO

2 lunges then a squat from Cone 1 to Cone 2

Cone 2 – On this date: 1935 – The first canned beer is sold. JJ was also there for this event and informed us that no one person said “Dilly Dilly”. Scripture: Psalm 133:1 “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity.” Exercise: 25 Big Boy Sit-ups

Reverse Lunge from Cone 2 to Cone 3

Cone 3 – On this date: 1981 – Mike Bossy of the New York Islanders scores his 50th goal in the first 50 games of the NHL season, becoming only the second person to ever do so. Scripture: James 1:19 “Know this my beloved brothers; let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.” Exercise: 10 burpees (There was an instant need to remind the pax of the scripture, particularly the be slow to anger part, after burpees were announced).

Alternating side lunges from Cone 3 to Cone 4

Cone 4 – On this date: 2006 – Disney announces that it has purchased Pixar for $7.4 Billion. Scripture: Romans 12:1 “I appeal to you therefore, brothers by the mercies of God to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Exercise: 25 Carolina Dry Docks

Moleskin:

I am constantly humbled at the men of this region. F3 is a big part of each of our lives, but we have something special in this region. I am thankful that the men of F3 didn’t give up on me when i didn’t post for 2 winters. I’m thankful for men that are willing to pray for me, my family and my marriage. F3 has done way more for me than I could ever do for it.

To the men of Hollow: Thank you for closing today and coming over. I’m not worthy of this.

Yeah, so it’s time for me to wrap this up. I have a lunch appt with you guessed it, F3 brothers. Peace.
