Only Blocks, No Burpees

(Posted on Behalf of PickAxe)

What 18 Pax didn’t do were burpees…not a single one. Good work done by all.

Mosey to the block pile. Each pax picked up a block and we’re directed to the flagpole beside the covered walkway on the backside of the school. This caused a slight amount of confusion because the pole YHC was referring to is a light pole not a flagpole.

This structure of this workout was borrowed from the legend himself, Cheddar.  Under the covered walkway each Pax was given 3 playing cards. The suit of the card determined the type of exercise:

  • hearts = upper body,
  • diamonds = core,
  • clubs = legs &
  • spades = Tay-palms.

Each pax played a card (or multiple cards if same suit) and chose a corresponding exercise using blocks.  Number of reps corresponded to face value of cards played with ace =1, Jack=11, queen=12, king=13.

Exercises called included, block merkins, flutter kicks holding blocks above chest, curls, shoulder press, calf raise on block, block squat, lbc with block, lbac, and of course taepalms.

With a few minutes left blocks were returned to the block pile and pax moseyed back to the shovel flag.
