Marine Corps Birthday and #EMOM Rounds of Awfulness

10 November 2019, the finest fighting force on this earth turns 244 years old.  244 years ago, the United States Marine Corps came alive.  Today we celebrated by doing what Marines do, obliterating things.

#EMOM makes it’s second appearance this week, this time it felt even worse than the first time…didn’t think that was possible.  EMOM equals every minute on the minute.

All pax start the minute with a run to the curb and back, then complete 10 reps at a station.  Any time left in the minute is recovery time.  Once the next minute starts, rinse and repeat the run and move to the next station.

Stations:

  • Tire flips
  • Block Press
  • Block Curls
  • Box Squats
  • Deep Incline Merkins
  • Pull-ups

What happened during the first round of this was absolute chaos, the awfulness of this six minute period is hard to describe.  Needless to say, there was minimal opportunity to get any rest while working through this six minute round.  So after a quick 1-2 minute breather, naturally we did it two more times.  When you can gas Wing Back, you know it’s a goodin.

For the fourth round, we did a little recovery for it and did the same stations but cut out the run.  However, the time between rotating was cut down to about 40 seconds.

BOM/Devo

As mentioned, the Marine Corps turns 244 and the moto of the Marine Corps is Semper Fidelis.  Semper Fidelis or Semper Fi stand for ‘Always Faithful’.  It’s something that all of us should uphold with our faith in God.  Remain faithful, just as the church in Smyrna did in Revelation 2:10.  In doing so, they and we can receive the crown of everlasting life.

Revelation 2:10 – Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life
