Happy Birthday America!

YHC’s closest AO is Shawshank and yet has only posted there a few times, mostly because of work schedule. But since YHC has off on the 4th of July, today was a little different!! Mumble chatter was strong to start with, and things got really worrisome when the PAX proved they couldn’t be trusted to count to 2, but as the work was unleashed, so were the beasts of Shawshank. These PAX bear crawled and worked their shoulders and forearms to the max. Good work gentlemen, you’ve earned your brews, barbecue, and burgers for today!!

#TCLAPs to Dunphy for possibly YHC’s most awkward Q’ing moment when he suggested ‘Tigercock’ as the new name for our FNG ‘Bandwagon’ … we quickly redirected and chose a different route. Thanks for playing, Dunphy.

Conditions: 77 and 400% humidity

Partner PAX by counting off 1’s and 2’s; this proved to be quite difficult for the groggy PAX of Shawshank, so YHC helped them out by literally walking around the circle and counting off…

All PAX grab a block and line up on goal line of soccer field with partner

Bear Haul to first set of lights, swap to even out shoulder work, and Bear Haul back to goal line

Partner 1, farmer’s carry both blocks to second set of lights and back, partner 2 LBC’s; flapjack, R&R until 486 LBC’s are completed as a group

Bear Hauls to first set of lights

Partner 1 overhead block carry and lunge, partner 2 upright row with blocks and bricks; flapjack, R&R until 243 rows are done… this turned out to be quite the task, so YHC made a call to count by 2’s on the rows. That worked much better.

One last set of Bear Hauls to first set of lights, the blocks back to pile.

Mosey back to flag for COT and Pledge of Allegiance

Devo —
Excerpt taken from a letter written by John Adams to his wife Abigail:

The second day of July 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.

As we go out today to celebrate the birth of our nation and its independence, take moments here and there to thank God for your blessings. As it says in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, ‘give thanks to God in all things.’ Thank Him for the meal you’ll enjoy. Thank him for the fellowship you’ll have with friends and family. Thank him for the brave souls who have and who continue to sacrifice their time and sometimes their lives for our freedoms. In all things, thank Him!!
