Cheers Roulette at Shawshank

YHC had a makeup Q today and was able to celebrate his 4 year Anniversary with some great men, again. The only unfortunate part was there were a lot of Shawshank regulars who were missing today because of work, sickness, injury, or Qing elsewhere. I’m hoping the other regulars went somewhere else or did anything other than fartsacking. Also hoping to see them out there next week. Arena came to the party with double digits today, Shawshank can do better.

This Q was a fun one that was thrown together last night. The goal was to cause a lot of mumblechatter, although we had to count so much that this wasn’t much of an option today. Also, Notebook wasn’t there, so that added to the silence a little. This was a roulette, destiny picks your poison kind of deal. On the surface this Q seemed confusing, but once you got into it….who am I kidding, it was still confusing. However, it was a lot of fun and ended up being a good workout.

It was great to have the men of Arena with us today. We need to do these convergences more often.

Here’s how it went today:

Conditions: 45 degrees; overcast

Mosey to parking lot

TTT x 10 IC
LBAC x 10 each way IC
Windmill x 10 IC

Bear crawl warm-up:
Mosey to sidewalk in front of main soccer field and line up facing opposite sidewalk. Bear crawl to each of the largest light poles and do 25 Merkins at each. Total of 75 Merkins and about 150 yards of Bear crawls.

Mosey to shed for Cheers Roulette

Cheers Roulette:

Using a nifty app on YHC’s phone, a random number was selected by said app. This number was between 1 and 99 and it decided the amount of reps and which exercise we would do.

The following scale is how the reps are counted and the corresponding exercise is figured:

On even numbers that are selected:
2-18 equals 10 reps
20-28 equals 20 reps
30-38 equals 30 reps
And so on (on numbers 10 to 98, first number is multiplied by 10, single numbers are automatically made 10, e.g. if 12 is selected then we do 10 reps: 1 x 10 = 10)

Odd numbers (just to mix it up)
1-19 equals 90 reps
21-29 equals 80 reps
31-39 equals 70 reps
And so on (on numbers 11 to 99, first number is subtracted from 10 and multiplied by 10, single numbers are automatically made 90, e.g. if 15 is selected then we do 90 reps: 10 – 1 = 9 x 10 = 90)

The following scale chooses the exercise that we did (using 15, we do 90 reps of an Ab exercise, since 5 correlates to the exercise below. Again single numbers would be 10 reps if it is even, 90 reps if it is odd, and the single digit number, say it is 5, would correlate to the exercise below, which wound be 90 of an Ab exercise)

1 = Merkins exercise of Q’s choosing
2 = Equals squats
3 = Equals Dips
4 = Equals Carolina Dry socks
5 = Equals Ab exercise of Q’s choosing
6= Equals Bonnie Blairs
7 = Equals Monkey Humpers
8 = Equals Step UPS
9 = Equals Reverse Snow Angels
0 = Planks for whichever number is selected using the process of even and odd numbers above, e.g. 30 would be 70 seconds of planks

More examples: If the number 31 is chosen, we will do 70 Merkins. (100 – 3 x 10 = 70), because it’s an odd number, and 1 corresponds with Merkins. A number of 32 would be 30 squats, 3 x 10 =
30 and 2 corresponds with squats.

We did a lot of squats, dips, planks, Bonnie Blairs (Voltron’s favorite), monkey humpers, and reverse snow angels. We did some step ups, Dry docks, and ab exercises. We did zero merkins.

After this fun, Voltron finished us off with 38 flutter kicks in memory of Cheech (awesome tribute here).

30 seconds of 6 inches.

Belonging is such a deep need of the human spirit. Whilst God wants us to be confident in our individual significance, He made us to need the security of being a part of an eternal family where we can be absolutely sure of unconditional acceptance.

~Pastor David Cross

The pastor’s message was about belonging to God’s family. Well, I believe that F3 embodies that sentiment. Everything we do is geared toward a closer relationship with God and each other. All men are invited to be a part of this family and belong to something bigger.

    1. I’m still confused why we modified a plank from 70 seconds to 30 but didn’t modify the 70 reverse snow angels. I am also confused how Cowbell’s comment got posted at 12:42 PM when it is only 12:07 PM now….. maybe Notebook can explain it all to me…
