On the evening of January 24th, 2014, YHC got an invite from a friend to some kind of workout out event the next day. It would be fun, he said. After a few minutes of conversation and a commitment, he happened to mention we needed to meet at 4:30….am…in the morning. Too late to back out, YHC set the alarm early and set out some cold weather clothes and sometime around 5 am on Jan 25th, 2014 in 9 degree weather, YHC posted for a life changing workout. 90 seconds in, death seemed imminent. 2 minutes in, death was begged for. Somehow it was over soon and no ambulances were involved, but YHC was hooked.
Today 8 pax posted in 32 degree weather to help support YHC in honor of this day. 6 years of F3 have been such a blessing for this Pax so we took a page from the playbook of that first workout and recreated it at Snakepit. It went a lil something like this:
Conditions: 32 an clear
Mosey down the BB stairs to the warm up area
All exercises in cadence
- SSH x 15
- TTT x10
- IW x 15
- gas pumps x 10
Mosey to the block pile and gather on the sideline with your block.
Start with 25 overhead presses with your block, sprint to the other sideline and do 25 merkins, sprint back.
Rinse and repeat dropping 5 reps each time.
We did several circuits of this including the following reps:
25 block squats, 25 monkey humpers, dropping 5 etc
25 Iron crosses holding the block up, sprint, 25 BBSU.
As time closed, we finished with partner carrying 2 blocks and shutttled back and forth across the field, passing the blocks from partner to partner. Blocks cannot touch the ground or burpee penalty.
Back to the flag
Prayer request: Katniss’ Mom, HB’s wife, Finch’s Uncle, Ralphie’s son, YHC’s wife surgery.
Announcements: Trash pickup Feb 8th.
YHC is extremely grateful for the fellowship of F3 and the change of focus that comes along with it. F3 has shifted focus from “me” to improved relationships with family, M and most importantly our heavenly Father. Sometimes great things happen by starting with just showing up. YHC is thankful for the men that have impacted and continue to impact those around them.
