BATTLE Birthday Party

BATTLE, the AO designed to be a little different, turned 5 last week. We celebrated as Battle Pax should – with a workout that was outwardly competitive and on the edge of being considered physically inadvisable. We got the blessing of the F3 powers-that-be 5 years ago to do something slightly against the credo of our organization – a place where it might not be a workout that any man of any conditioning level can complete, a place where it’s commonplace to compete with each other, and that one workout out of the week that takes you beyond your limits. Once a week for this different kind of AO was all we asked for, The Nation agreed, and we’ve been getting after it ever since.
Here’s what we did —

Conditions: 50 perfect degrees



5 Burpees
10 Squats
10 Sit-ups

Divide up Teams, go to the Battle Rope in front lot
– each man on a Team is numbered a 1 or a 2

Tug of War Competitions for
2 minutes – run to curb, 5 Burpees
1 minute – run to curb, 10 merkins
1 minute – run up gym ramp, 5 merkins
1 minute – sprint 40yds and back
2 minutes – sprint up outdoor staircase and back
and some others, YHC can’t remember.

w/ differing challenges for each Competition
Chaser calls for 1’s or 2’s during the Set, the called number runs to do an exercise while uncalled teammates continue to pull – resulting in quick muscle failure…
