CONDITIONS: Started as a light sprinkle, but quickly subsided. Making for a muggy, but cooler than average summer morning.
WARMUP:
YHC and Quaker meander through Shandon and Melrose Heights with SlideWhistle joining us on Devereaux. YHC chomps down a waffle somewhere in Heathwood. Trying to keep our boy Quaker in the 8:30-8:45 range.
THE THANG:
– YHC successfully summoned Friar Tuck since we were passing his home and Cauliflower as the route was one of his favorite objects. The toilet.
– Plus we got some ferret hunting in non sketchy territory! Sort of, Trenholm is nice, but too many cars even at the earlier start time.
– We begin the route with turn by turn instructions from YHC.
– Friar Tuck corrects YHC’s pronunciation of Kilbourne.
– Marathon training means that F3 Columbia rules the streets of the greater Shandon-Melrose Heights-Rosewood area
– We wave to BabyRuth
– Lobstah pulls out the jams with some 80s then 90s and one song we were unsure of the origin to
– The cars were rather good to us in the run staying out of the way for the most part
– Lobstah pulls away at Daly
– Cauliflower has time for ramble today and heads up Maple to join them
– At this point SlideWhistle is way in front of the main pack so it’s just Friar Tuck Quaker and YHC
– YHC tries to game plan if he can get to a 40%+ Street Ferret score before it gets even too sketchy for him
– Discussion of corrupting children with music and Quaker pointing out that the song ‘Money For Nothing’ by Dire Straights has some choice words for Sting. It’s all in good fun though since Sting is singing in the song too. Kinda funny that I mentioned Tyler the Creator before Quaker mentioned Dire Straights since the slur in question is probably Tyler’s most used lol
– YHC and FT tire as Quaker maintains the pace when we cross Forest to Maple
– We missed Bratton, oops lol
– Snagged the parking lot of Dreher where YHC overthought everything that was happening
– Solid run with the dudes!
