-Maybe I’m just hypersensitive to it fresh off our SAFE Lexington meeting last night but allow me share to what I witnessed this AM while running: I saw one Stride runner blow through an intersection with red light to beat an approaching car that had a green light. It wasn’t a close call but why take the chance? Not 3 minutes later, I saw 2 non-F3 runners running in the median. At the end of the route, I saw 2 Stride runners cross 6 with cars approaching. On the way home, I saw an elderly lady walking Wise Ferry (busy road with no shoulder) and changing sides of the road each time a car passes.

To all pedestrians: If we don’t change our habits, we will have another tragic event. We learned at the SAFE meeting last night, it’s on us to keep ourselves safe. Simply wearing reflective gear and headlamps doesn’t guarantee our safety. Running smartly, legally, and proactively gives us the best chance to get back home.
