14 PAX learn how to spell in the cold

A nice chilly morning for some good ol’ fashioned betterment.  Thanks to those who came out this morning, little ol’ Detention had 14 dudes running around in the freeze.

The weather: um…cold.

Here’s what we did:

BOM

Warm up with 15 SSH, 15 LBAC, 15 TTT, 15 RLBAC, 15 IW, and 15 merkins.

Today’s devo was about goals/resolutions so I decided we should spell out the word “goals” in the field in block letters.  At each turn/joint of a letter, we would do 15 of an exercise of a PAX choosing (note: don’t let H4T or Wingback pick if you do this). There was lots of moseying, lots of exercises, and lots of mumblechatter but here’s what I remember (not in order):

  • 15 monkey humpers
  • 15 hand release merkins
  • 15 overhead claps
  • 15 plankjack burpees
  • 15 one legged burpees
  • 15 broad jump burpees
  • 15 your-exercise-of-choice-that-invovles-the-curb (incline merkins, decline merkins, dips, step ups, etc.)
  • 15 squats
  • 15 crab humpers
  • 15 merkins
  • 15 LBCs
  • 15 iron crosses
  • 15 BBSUs

Made about 23 stops with a different exercise at each stop.

(If you squint real hard, it’s there.)

And one good solid Native American Run to finish off the PAX.  A lap and a half around the parking lot.  Detention’s PAX have improved their NARun abilities but still have some work to do.

Another fun morning out in the gloom with the boys, can’t wait to do it again.

I was passed the AOQ duties from Hot-4-Teacher this morning.  What an honor, to say the least.  I’ve learned a lot from these guys, not only at Detention but in all of F3 Lexington, and gained several role models as well.  I couldn’t be more excited to lead these guys and see what they teach me in this role.

Devo:

John 6:27 says “Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.  For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”  In this season of New Year’s resolutions and goal setting, be sure the goals you’re setting are for the right things and for the right reasons.  Don’t set your goals for “food that spoils” but for goals that “endure to eternal life.”
