WOW for Oct 16-21

Good theme’s are sometimes hard to come by or think of when making a Q. Theme’s can be as simple as doing the same thing with different exercises. For example, doing a ladder at different hills with different exercises each time, or doing 5 iterations of 10/20/30 reps with three different block exercises each time. The nice thing about a theme is that the pax have some idea what to expect.

The best theme’s are one that generate some sort of camaraderie among the pax. Commonly, the camaraderie is generated through the mutual suffering endured by the workout, but even better is when you can do group exercises that generate a sense of team.  This weeks WOW does exactly that.

WOW: The WOW this week comes from Pinkmen at last weeks Hammer.  Read the whole BB here.

The Thang

We of course started with my favorite – SSH x 25 (OYO)

YHC  instructed the PAX to partner up with someone of similar height and to grab 1 block per group.  YHC then instructed each PAX that each partner had to be touching the block at all times (unless instructed otherwise).

With blocks in tow, Mosey to bottom of Briarfield

Again, think of this as a true partner workout.  The following exercises were done as a team of 2 with the same block.  For example, partner A did overhead press with his right arm, and partner B used his left at the same time.  Then we switched sides.

20 overhead press / switch arms

20 Lunge walk / switch sides

20 curls / switch arms

Mosey to Sylvan with blocks.  Plank waiting on the 6.

20 merkins / switch arms

20 squats / switch arms

20 curls / switch arms

Mosey to Bottom of Shannon Springs with Blocks.  Plank Waiting on the 6.

Now the fun begins.  I could tell by the lack of chatter.

Partner Hill repeats up Shannon Springs.

Partner 1 runs to the top of Shannon Springs.  Burpees at the top. 10 , 9, 8, 7, 6

Other partner does AMRAP

BBS with blocks

Bench press

Curls

Kettle bells

Squats

Mosey to Shovel Flag.  I think Sweetness made me carry ours by myself.

Finish up with partner air chair with blocks until time.

The Goods: What YHC loves about this workout is the sense of team work and camaraderie that was surely generated.  This workout was a pain in the rear, but it was something you went through with the man next to you.  You had someone to push you until the end. YHC has never heard of this type of workout before, but will be sure to steal it the next time out.

Nice work Pinkmen! #TCLAPS
