Mission Possible

Weather: 46 degrees, Light Mist & MOIST

After multiple visits, today was YHC’s first Q at The Mission. The first F is always good, but the 2nd and 3rd F’s are always the most important part of a Mission workout and the coffeeteria afterwards!!

The Thang:

Intro, Disclaimer, Prayer and Lord’s Prayer, Pledge of Allegiance.

Merkins X 50 OYO

Mosey across the field and stop for some warmup exercises.

SSH X 23 IC

TTT X 23 IC

Little Baby Arm Circles Forward X 12 IC

Little Baby Arm Circles Reverse X 11 IC

Overhead Claps X 12 IC

Imperial Walkers X 23 IC

Line up side-by-side.

Air chair for everyone while each pax does 5 squats each in turn starting with Wolfpack and ending with Tricycle, uh, Training Wheels.

Run to pond and back.

Rinse and repeat the air chairs and squats.

Next – Plank for everyone while each pax does 5 merkins in turn, again starting with Wolfpack.

Bear crawl to pond and run back.

Rinse and repeat the planks & merkins.

Lunge to pond and run back.

Mosey around the pond to the amphitheater to take advantage of the big steps over there.

On the way YHC saw several sets of beautiful steps, so two audibles were called.

1)      Stop at the first set of stairs and do calf raises X 23 IC

2)      Run up and down the 2nd set of stairs. Felt great after those calf raises! LOL

On to the amphitheater!

23 Dips OYO single count.

Starting at first level do 1 merkin. Add 1 rep at each level until you reach the top – 10 merkins.  Good job by the pax to push through!

Since everyone was at the top, might as well use the various levels again going down. Start with 1 BBSU at the top and add one rep at each level going down.

A few pax were a little winded at this point, so we circled up. With each pax in the squat position, we then took time for each pax to name one thing that they are grateful for.

Since everyone was now well-rested, run back to the top of the amphitheater for 10 or 12 merkins, then run back down for 10 or 11 more merkins.

Mosey back around the pond, stopping at the same stairs for a run up and down the stairs again.

Mosey back to the shovel flag.

Just enough time left for a few exercises:

1 Burpee because we haven’t done any and there are donuts waiting for us at the top of the hill.

Imperial Walkers X 23 IC.

Finally the last two exercises that YHC always does to remember our lost F3 and FiA pax:

Merkins for Digits – 30, or as many as possible, on YHC’s count – pause – do last 6 together for a total of 36.

Flutter kicks for Cheech, 30 IC, pause, and then 8 more together for Cheech as YHC always does.

Q Critique – one thing the Mission does after a workout is give the Q feedback on how he did. It’s great to hear what people liked and disliked and how the Q can do better. Thanks, men!

Romans 9:21 “Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use?”

When I was in Italy several years ago my M and I visited a museum in Florence that had Michelangelo’s statue David. It is a magnificent piece of work that is 17 feet tall. That museum also had several unfinished sculptures. You could see what might be a foot or an elbow or a knee starting to appear out of the rectangular blocks of marble.

As we looked around the circle today, we saw about 10 or 12 unfinished works of art. You might say we see 12 rectangular blocks of marble. That’s not what God sees, though. He sees 12 perfect creations that He is continuing to chisel away on. If we will simply follow Him, He will remove all the blemishes and reveal the perfect creations that He intends for us to become.
