Pound Sand, Y’all

Chilly in the school yard today.  But once we got moving with some mindless, conversational labor, turns out it wasn’t so bad and we even got some work done.  4 Detention faithful put in some manual labor makin small rocks at the bottom of the hill into small rocks at the top of the hill with an assortment of heavy things in tow.

Welcome, Disclaimer, and BOM

Weather: Not as bad as I thought it would be while wrestling the fartsack.

Pound Sand Relay:

There’s a vast impoundment of moist, clean sand at the foot of the Principal – and two empty buckets about the shoulders.  PAX hauled skwal down and back to seed the teams, and it would be Rumb-jo vs. Blue-Boo.

PAX1 hustles to the sandbox to fill a 24-oz plastic cup, run back and dump it in the empty 5GAL bucket while PAX2 SSH’s/Planks/Squats/Wall Sits awaiting their return.  Flapjack until your bucket’s full.

YHC introduced his rowdy group of heavy-pals after round three.  The first PAX back to the top would get to choose from an assortment of: 25# ammo can / 35# rucksack / 40# dead baby seal.  The rotten egg gets the next available coupon. Pays to be a winner, as they say!

Turned out to be more of a “whistle while you work” morning than the DETENTION DEATH RACE I’d envisioned but the hustle was steady and buckets were filled just as time would be called.  It was Rumb-jo by a ½ cup and to the victors go the spoils! They got to return the 150# of sand to its origin.

Devo: Test and approve

Romans 12:1-2

1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

We know Godly from worldly and are called to avoid the patterns of the world.  Good and evil are written in His Word; and they are written on our hearts.

Naked Man Moleskine:

*Today is my late BIL’s birthday – he would be 45.  Special time for the family as we gathered for dinner tonight at his favorite spot: Zorba’s.  While it was a tragic loss 7.5 years ago, we have received many blessings through it, including the daily reminder that life is precious and we’re put here to do God’s work every time we leave, and enter through our front door – as if it were our last.

*Speaking of buckets, here’s a fun riddle for you: You have a 3 gallon bucket, a 5 gallon bucket, and an endless supply of sand.  How do you get exactly 4 gallons of sand in the 5 gallon bucket?
