Let there be light’s

Its been some time since YHC had the privilege of leading the Smokehouse pax and it was great to feel a little Q-drenaline pumping through the veins on this last cold morning (or so i hope) before spring/summer makes the long awaited return to the gloom.  Viper yesterday on day 1 of The Gauntlet so decided to take a break from stairs this morning but did want to get a little elevation in so it was time to check out the latest enhancement to our AO…lights on Hash Hill!

Conditions: 34 degrees but no wind so all was good

The Thang:

Mosey around sidewalk and to the top of campus, was gonna go out by the road to wave to some passerbyers but saw a lonley car on the back stretch and wanted to make sure it wasn’t in distress…nope just one of B-L’s finest law men watching for hooligans, i guess that mean us this morning so we stopped right in front of his parked car and allowed him the pleasure of seeing our warm-up routine.

Curb crawls:  12 Derkins then bear crawl to opposite curb, 11 Incline Merkins back and forth until we reached 1.

He must have liked it as he took time to roll down the window and tell us that warm-up session got him motivated for the days work of protective and serving #Tclaps to the men/women in Blue that protect and serve us everyday!

Now that we were warm, mosey to Hash Hill to allow the pax to gaze upon the beauty of our new lights which has taken all the fear out of our previously scary hill.  With fear now gone, YHC instructed the pax to head downward, stopping at each speed bump to do 10 jump squats.  Once at the bottom take a left and grab a block and reconvene at the near end of the parking lot.  10 Curls for the girls at the near end, then Cusack to the storm drain, 10 block triceps, Cusack to next drain, 10 OH presses, Cusack to the far drain 10 Block swings. Turn around and head back doing same exercises.  On your six and complete 15 BBSU’s then 10 Skull Crushers, 10 2ct Flutter Kicks with blocks in air, 15 more BBSU’s.  Blocks up.

Mosey back to Hash Hill and ascend to the top stopping at each speed bump for 10 jump squats on the way back up.

Mosey back to SF for Mary. X’s & O’s, LBC’s, Heel tap/V-ups, Iron Crosses.

Devo:

Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.—Hebrews 10:24
Why do more than five million people a year pay money to run several miles over an obstacle course where they must ascend vertical walls, slog through mud, and climb up inside a vertical pipe with water pouring down on them? Some see it as a personal challenge to push their limit of endurance or conquer their fears. For others, the attraction is teamwork where competitors help and support each other. One person called it “a no-judgment zone” where people who are strangers will reach out to help each other finish the race (Stephanie Kanowitz, The Washington Post).
The Bible urges us to pursue teamwork as a model of living out our faith in Jesus. “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:24-25).
Our goal is not to “finish first” in the race of faith, but to reach out in tangible ways of encouragement by setting an example and lending a helping hand along the way.
The day will come when we complete our life on earth. Until then, let’s spur each other on, be ready to help, and keep pulling together every day. —David C. McCasland

Father in heaven, give us eyes to see and strength to help each other in the race of faith today.

We run together in the race of faith!
