Stonehenge…under the lights!

28 #MenOfDepot chose the red pill and were better for it today #ISI

YHC hasn’t been the Q in quite some time, so I dusted off an oldie (but goodie) and brought old and new together this morning. One of my first Qs incorporated a simple “grab a rock, circle up, exercise” concept. YHC quickly noticed some men boys decided to “go easy” and grab the smaller rocks and since #ISI, YHC audibled and had pax rotate around the circle of rocks so that the boys got to work with the stones the men chose. And thus…Stonehenge was born.

This morning, instead of working out on England’s Salisbury Plain, 80 miles southwest of London, Stonehenge was brought to sacred ground closer to home, here in the heart of Ballentine, at the AO known simply as Depot . While Stonehenge is perhaps the world’s most famous prehistoric monument (it was built in several stages: the first monument was an early henge monument, built about 5,000 years ago, and the unique stone circle was erected in the late Neolithic period about 2500 BC) one of the most recent discoveries in Ballentine, SC was LIGHTS at the fields of Depot. And thus, this morning, the gloom was less gloomy and the lights shown brightly on the #MenofDepot and all their glory!

Conditions: A very pleasant 53 degrees. Which allowed for for our greatness to steam up across the field as we journeyed to and fro.

Moleskin: Was great seeing some old faces in the gloom today. Kotters to Roommate, Icky and Gerrymander. Good to see Lorena back for 2nd time. Barre’ too! Even better to see Barre’ step up and lead Mary (note: SSH is not a Mary exercise, but the fact he stepped in to lead is good enough). Likewise, Tclaps to EVERY MAN today for leading during the workout. As each group went to their station, a new man was asked to lead that station. Best way to prepare tomorrow’s leaders is to start today! It’s uncomfortable the first time, you will mess up, but it’s all good. #ISI and I saw some brotherly correction and guidance today from men in their small groups. That’s what F3 is about. Each of us helping the other (and ourself) to get better!

Has God Benched You?

But his hair began to grow back after it had been shaved. Judges 16:22

In high school, I was the statistician on my basketball team. This gave ma unique perspective on the team. I witnessed the coach pull out players who had lost their self-control, talk to them about their behavior, and give them time to settle down. Then he would put them back in the game.

In a similar way, God pulled Samson from the game of life. He was supposed to beht leader of Isreal but he lost control, giving in to a lust for women and personal revenge. Samson had a secret: his strength was his in his hair, and his hair was never to be cut. But that is exactly what he allowed to happen. As soon as the hair was cut, his strength was lost, and he was no longer able to serve as Israel’s judge. Although he was a prisoner in the Philistine jail, Samson still had a will to serve God, and God blessed him with another opportunity. His prayer in verse 38 shows us that Samson finally learned the true source of his strength. God answered that prayer and used Samson to bring down judgement on the Philistines.

All of us lose control from time to time. Look at any major character in the Bible aside from Jesus, and you will see that they messed up: Abraham, Moses, Samson, David, Peter, and others. Although they sinned, they accepted God’s discipline and went back to serving Him when He gave them the chance. When we mess up, God is not done with us yet. If you are playing well for Him, keep going! But if you feel benched by God, He’s not done with you. Learn from Him, so you can get back in the game.
