Weather – Clear and slightly above freezing
10 PAX gather for some futbol fun as we usually do this and every other Friday. There was word that a new lighted soccer ball was on the way, but had not arrived. We worked with what we had, and that was a ball that got dimmer as we got along…..unless someone really got a good leg into it and it was pretty bright for about 8 seconds, then slowly dimming again.
After getting down to the field, we decided to shorten the field, but found the regular soccer goals were tied to the goal post. Hence the lacrosse goals placed at the ten yard line. After the 1’s and 2’s, we ended up having a team of snipers and a team of grenades. The snipers, who took fewer shots, won by an overwhelming margin. Everything that they tried worked. They had two fast breaks that ended in points.
The grenades were oh so close. Had the goals been….maybe a foot wider on each side….this would have been a completely different ball game. I am pretty sure they had five shots go just to the outside of the goal and that does not count the four corner kicks either. Sometimes the ball just does not roll the way you want it to. Shout out to Sweet Tart who had at least two, if not three, of the near misses on goal. But with those misses, three of them ended up in the regular goals, so that is something, right?
