You Hypocrite
Luke 6:42 “How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck in that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take out the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.”
It’s easy to criticize others. Whether it’s a mistake they make or a personality trait you don’t like. As if we never make a mistake or have a flawless personality. I guess judging others and/or gossip makes us a feel a little better about our own flaws. Having been through middle school years with my kids, it’s all too common.
I am reminded of a quote from former Roman Emperor and philosopher Marcus Aurelius, “Whenever you are about to find fault with someone, ask yourself the following question – what fault of mine most nearly resembles the one I am about to criticize.”
Think about Jesus’ words in Luke first then try answering this question next time you judge another.
