Come and Go – another decade in the books

YHC has celebrated 50 laps around the sun. The last lap, to date, has been the greatest by far. This is partially due to the men of Shawshank and F3 Lexington. It is a blessing to be a small part of this brotherhood and community as a whole.

The actual bday was on Saturday and was spent doing a Spartan race with Lego. Along the way, we met a bunch of F3 dudes from Raleigh, Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, Virginia, and other locations. What a way to spend the day…playing in the mud and manure, laughing, struggling at times, pushing ourselves, and finishing in style. Cool t-shirts at the end. Pretty sweet deal.

What a glorious morning for a respect Q. The skies were clear, the temps were darn near perfect, and the company was stellar.

5 pax headed out early for SL while 1 pax set up some really neat cones. 1 pax was sipping on a jug of coffee and honey, and the final pax rolled in and firmly planted the flag. We were ready to roll.

1 minute warning (exactly), disclaimer of sorts, no FNG’s, open in prayer, pause for Siri, resume in prayer.

Mosey through the opening in the fence, up the hill a few paces, and circle up on somewhat level terrain.

SSH x 20 IC, TTT x 10 IC, Michael Phelps x something IC

Mosey to the block pile…where, lo and behold, blocks were already set up for the pax, along with new bricks and nicely spaced cones. So far, so good. The perfect Q was on tap.

The Thang:

Cone 1 – 25 curls with big block

Pick up a brick in each hand and do not put down until you return to cone 1.

Cone 2 – 25 merkins

Cone 3 – 25 (2ct) American Hammers

Cone 4 – 25 squat thrusters

Cone 5 – 15 burpees

Cone 6 – 25 lateral raises

Cone 7 – 20 shoulder taps

Cone 8 – 25 derkins

Cone 9 – 25 overhead claps

Cone 10 – run to 3rd big light pole and back to cone 1.

Rinse and repeat 3x’s.

Recover. Put blocks and bricks away and mosey to the flag.

Today was a day of the best humor Shawshank has experienced in quite some time. All jokes were above middle school age and produced some quality belly-laughs. Cheers, surprisingly, was on point most of the morning. He and Coon Dog did their merkin-head routine only once, and the rest of the gang contributed throughout the workout. There is some discrepancy on where the mudrunners are staying in Atlanta. One hotel but its distance from Truist Park ranges from 25-165 miles. 6 dudes, one cpap machine, 2 beds, and one long-ass ride from the stadium to wherever. This ought to be fun for these dudes. Props to Duff for getting the rooms, too bad he thought it was an away game for the Braves.

Announcements:

MudRun, Guys Weekend – Several Shankers reuniting with Knozit to conquer Atlanta. Looking forward to the stories.

Don’t Suffer Challenge – 4/29 – 0600 at Lexington High School

May 13 – Shawshank anniversary. Hash is working on something amazing.

Prayer Requests:

Cheers and his M – strength, peace, plan of attack, good outcome

Families and Country

Close in prayer.

Devo – Psalm 32:1 – Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. This is the instrumental verse that turned my life around in my late 30’s. True peace and joy are found in a real relationship with Jesus. Encourage others and be encouraged to seek Him.
