Awesome and Amusing Anniversary Antics

Lexington’s west side celebrated 2 anniversaries today. We had the 7 year salute to Shawshank and the 6 year hail to The Hollow. Solid group of studs showed up and a couple of geldings (snip-snip pax). YHC has only been a part of F3 Lexington for 2 1/2 years, but the time has been amazing. Roughly 25% of those in attendance today were here on day 1 for each of these AO’s. Thanks, to these men, for starting The Shank and Hollow and keeping them going. Thanks to the men who have joined since then and made them stronger.

Weird facts that may only interest me. The 7 year anniversary gift is typically copper. Copper does not contain iron so it does not rust. This is a good thing with all the moisture Shawshank has to offer. No rusting today on what were some pretty damp (normal) fields. The 6 year anniversary gift is iron. Iron sharpens iron. Having the pax of The Hollow join us today was a sharpening event. Dudes getting better all around.

It was good to see some pax who have not been out in awhile for various reasons. Doo Dah was there and talked throughout the bootcamp, Bing glowed in the dark with the orange shorts, and Ponzi made a strong showing gave out some solid fist bumps. What a way to start off a day.

Weather: 44 degrees, slightly humid, lot of stars in the sky.

1 minute warning, No FNG’s, Disclaimer, Opening Prayer.

Mosey to the field with the big, huge, gigantic, extremely large light poles and circle up.

COP: SSHx21 IC, LBAC x 14 IC forwards and 12 IC backwards, Michael Phelps x IC.

Line up on the end line. YHC thought by keeping the workout simple with just a few exercises, the pax would understand the instructions and everything would go smoothly. I should know better by now that ain’t ever going to be the case.

Big Light Pole suicide – 6 poles

Endline – 6 burpees (for The Hollow).

4 exercises at each pole – 7 hand release merkins, 7 merkins, 7 squats, 7 lbc’s.

For those counting at home, on the road, or in the office, total reps were 36 burpees, 252 hand release merkins, 252 merkins, 252 squats, 252 lbc’s. Total reps added up to 1,044 with some good distance covered in running back and forth.

Time called and recover.

Announcements:

Dunphy and Cramps – no more polynesian sauce.

Prayer Requests:

Notebook, No Show, Spackle, Slim Jim.

Aging parents.

Ken Doll – father-in-law passed away. Pray for his KD’s M and mother-in-law (poor health).

Close in prayer.

Devo: Proverbs 17:17 – A friends loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

The pax of F3 enjoy a strong brotherhood and will stand with each other no matter what. It’s been awesome to see this in action over the past 2 years (my time in F3) and hearing stories that go back to the beginning. No OYO in life, men, reach out to a brother when times are tough and check on those you have not seen in a while.
