Devo: George Bailey – “It’s a Wonderful Life”

YHC has a routine Christmas Eve. After the kids get to bed, YHC turns on the 2nd Half of “It’s a Wonderful Life”, usually picking up as George opens Bailey Park and begins to contemplate life choices. This movie becomes more real to YHC with every additional year of Adulthood.

Seems obvious to me that this story reflects F3 more than a half century before F3 even existed.  Can’t you picture George Bailey leading a bootcamp in the snow in Bedford Falls, and circling back to pick up the six and leading the COT, talking about community leadership and having an impact on your families?

Well, because of his community leadership and impact, when trouble hits, their is no mystery why his family, friends, and neighbors run to his aid.  As he contemplated his life choices as his life didn’t turn out quite like he had planned, certainly there were some days he looked at himself in the mirror and questioned if he had succeeded in life or not.  Those questions had to be answered and confirmed from this statement from Clarence: “No man is a failure who has friends.”

It is impossible not to make the connection to our AO at Turning Point and our Lexington Region.  Because of the friendships that have been built over the last 4 years (almost), YHC has no doubt that if trouble hit, there would be pax there running in to help.

With that, Thank You for your friendship and keeping YHC from failure.  Merry Christmas, this truly is a Wonderful Life.
