Mad Max and Monkey Love

“You wanna get outta here … max out and make love to the monkey.”

25 Pax rolled into the #Depot gloom this morning and, well, they had no idea what was in store for them.  By now, YHC has developed a reputation for, shall we say, different workouts.  First, YHC started with an all upper body workout.  “This is crazy!”, they said.  “My arms hurt!”, they said.  “I can’t wait to use my legs!”, they said.

So YHC had an all leg day.

“Ouch!”, they said.  “My legs were hurting for days.”, they said.  “We do have upper bodies, you know!”, they said.

So, not to discriminate, YHC implemented an all-over day.  Only with MAXIMUM POWAH!

At F3, we love everyone.  Our brothers.  People.  Old yeller.  And monkeys.  And they love us too.

But certainly inviting.  Love was in the air and The Monkey was burning with passion.

 Conditions: 73 degrees.  Probably some clouds.  Definitely some humidity.  Definitely some flying monkeys.

Mosey to the brick pile and grab two bricks per.  Line up in two lines.

Mosey to the playground.

YHC has decided that all workouts should implement pull-ups.  The bars are there.  We’re there.  Why not use them?

All PAX line up outside the fence.  Two rows.  Face each other.  Merkin position.  First two on the end run into the playground and do 10 pullups – preferably unassisted – at least try.  Assist if needed.  Run back to position.  Next two go.  All while the rest of the PAX perform Merkins OYO.  (Problematic Workout Audible called – instead of two at a time, 6 at a time.)

Rinse and Repeat.  This time, instead of Merkins, alternating shoulder taps – with bricks.

Aaaaaand Rinse and Repeat.  Substitute for alternating high/low planks.

Upper body done.  Welcome to mad MAX morning.

Recover into a slow mosey around to the opposite far corner of the lower soccer field – aka “Catch Your Breath”

Line up in rows of two.  Face each other.  All PAX do Quad Quakes (bricks down by your side, squat until your bricks touch the ground, stand back up).  Six on the end proceed to do Monkey Humpers X 10 (bend over and grab your ankles, bend at the knees until your butt bounces off your ankles) and then run – with bricks – to the end.

“Bend over and what?”

Repeat the rotation until we reach the other end of the field.  The PAX quickly learned two things: 10 Monkey Humpers is about all your quads can take after doing a bunch of squats; when doing Monkey Humpers with a male friend, it’s best to be facing each other.  We managed about 4 entire sets.  That’s 40 Monkey Humpers and a ton of squats with bricks.  Lower body done.  Literally.  Done.

There was lots of monkey love.  Like, a lot.

Cuddle up for some MAXIMUM POWAH Mary.  Yes.  Cuddle up.  C’mon, we just shared all that love.  The least we can do is cuddle.

I’m not exactly sure what everyone was thinking at the end of this workout, but I’m pretty sure the words, “I”, “hate”, and “you” were in there.

This was a great workout.  MAXimum effort was given by all.  Monkey Humpers were a real #CrowdPleaser and I’m sure the next time anyone will want to do them is…
