March 2019 #NoOYO version of #TheFlood

Thirteen (13) of F3 Lexington finest PAX beat the fartsack and got better today.  With the monthly running of #THEFLOOD, we all were running through the clear and chill of the #gloom today.  Today’s running had a different focus and purpose as we focused on #F3MentalBattle…more details below.

Conditions: Chilly

Before we got started, YHC discussed that #F3MentalBattle was yesterday and it was a day to acknowledge and talk about mental health issues that men struggle with specifically male depression and suicide. One of the leading contributing factors to feelings of depression, and to mental health issues in general is feelings of isolation. Important to check in with other pax that haven’t posted in awhile or get new guys involved. The highest suicide rate in the US is adult males between 40 and 54. The average @F3Nation PAX member falls in this range. Men, we must be our brother’s keeper and know you’re never OYO. The answer is awareness, openness, and willingness. Don’t be afraid to find someone to talk to if you’re struggling with something.

From Sputnik -> One of the first Lessons is: You are not alone. No man is an island, in and of himself. He is part those who preceded him, part those who touch him, and part those who come after him. He has a Place in the Universe. He belongs.

Below is from Rock Hill Region, Italian Job…YHC read these words to the PAX to remember as we worked out.

Brief instructions, disclaimer, prayer and we were off.

A change from the typical #TheFlood was to grab a partner and one block, write your F3 name on block and as we do #TheFlood…one partner will overhead carry the block between the exercises and while other partner completes exercises…then rotate and repeat.  Block will represent the struggles or burdens fellow pax are going through.

The Thang:

Mosey to the block pile, write your F3 name on block and then mosey to the sign at the entrance to the school.  See map for more details.

With the modifications described above, at every red box the exercises rotated between hand release merkins/LBC’s and squats/BBSU’s.  We ran from red box to red box and performed a burpee at each light pole we passed (highlighted with a yellow circle).  Once we completed the loop through the parking lot we bear crawled around the traffic circle (orange line) and then ran back to the sign to start lap 2.  We started with 11 of each exercise and increased by 1 each lap. (12, 13, etc.) The burpee count at each light pole increased by 1 each lap as well.
