WEATHER: A very nice 60 degree Christmas Eve. Perfect.
As YHC was preparing for the Christmas Q he got a special visitor at his office. This young 20 year old gentlemen is a family friend. He is known as Sailor from the F3 Saluda community. He joined the Army 15 months ago and is definitely not the same kid.
Sailor graduated from Green Platoon School last week. He is now a member of the 160th Night Stalkers. Theses Bad#$s men and women of the US Army handle all of the Aviation components of Special Operations and work closely with Navy Seals and Green Berets.
YHC jokingly told Sailor he should come out and Q Shawshank while home for Christmas. He readily agreed, and I immediately got nervous and started to sweet. But, Challenge accepted, See you ITG.
THE THANG:
Sailor and 3 others (Lego, Soaker, Cheers, and Sailor) showed up for SL. Sailor had a 7:45 2 mile pace. Every one else was somewhere behind him.
PRAYER AND DISCLAIMER – The Q stresses importance of being a winner. There are consequences for not being the first to finish. After that, everyone (or at least YHC did) said one more prayer for good measure.
Get in teams of two. Pax #1 performs exercise and sprints to sideline of soccer field and back. Upon return Pax #1 rests while Pax #2 repeats. Ladder system in which each round you add another exercise prior to sprints.

Army 8 count Pushups – Think a burpee with 2 merkins, a real crowd pleaser.

Ken Doll and Hemingway were the two studs to win, and were thus allowed to watch while rest of us did the extra credit workout.
Pays To Be A Winner Workout:
Original plan was to do 10 burpees at each end of field x2 trips (40 burpees total). Sailor forgot he was training a bunch of middle aged dudes and thus did not have enough time. Therefore he settled to 10 burpees and head back to the Shovel Flag.

In ancient times, you did not adopt babies. Adoption was a process for a wealthy or a high status person could, pass his name and fortune onto someone who could increase the name’s status or the fortune. Therefore only adults who were proven men of ability were adopted. This passage reminds me that despite all of my shortcomings, all of my half-hearted measures, all of my screw ups, God still wants me as one of His children.
