Triple Crown – Potluck Style

Written by Potluck

The morning was a balmy 68 degrees with a clear sky and a waning crescent moon overhead. A perfect morning for a rookie QIC to get 31 Thoroughbreds into shape to run the race.

Place: Graveyard (The birthplace for F3Lex and the trendsetters for F3Nation)

Warm Up
Quick Lap around River Bluff Football Field
SSHs – 30
Merkins – 30
Imp Walker – 30
Squat – 30
Little Arm Circles – 30

Initial Training
Mosey to the bottom of the stadium steps.
A exercise potluck draw landed Russian Twists to get started.
10 Reps, Run to the top of the stadium, 10 Reps, Run to the top of the press box, 10 Reps, Return to starting point and plank.
Rinse and Repeat with 4 more potluck draws including: Mountain Climbers, Burpees, Squat Imperial Walkers.

Heat Races
Mosey to the goal line.
Count off by 5’s.
4 Groups of 6 head to the corners of the field.
Potluck draw for exercise yields Merkins.
While the entire group does exercises the fifth group races (some with Jockey mounted on their back) to the next group and begins exercise.
As each group moves to the next station they continue Merkins.

The final group draws a potluck exercise of Carolina Drydocks and continues the relay.

A final pull yields LBC’s to complete the heat.

At this point it is obvious that LOBO is a 2:1 favorite to finish first on the final race. Potluck yields 25000:1 odds.

The Race
Thoroughbreds post at the 50 on the home side for the race around half of the football field.

Potluck jumps out to a quick lead (before the gates officially opened) and LOBO fell to 10th in the pack. Floppy Disc took an unassuming lead and was nearly overtaken on the final leg as LOBO gained ground, but Floppy Disc took home the crown of champion of the Potluck Triple Crown. Those who put money on Potluck being last, lost a considerable amount of cash.

Mosey to the flag. COT, Count-a-rama, BOM

Moleskin
One final thought. There have been 35 horses who have been eligible to win the triple crown on the last race. Only 11 have achieved the coveted prize with Secretariat setting the mark of the fastest time in all three races. A record that has not been beaten since 1973. Finish well men.

Devotional
Men we are running a race. Work as hard on your relationship with Jesus and your love for others as you do in the gloom. The physical races we run here give us a temporary crown but the crown you should be after is an eternal one according to 1 Cor. 9:25. The crown of righteousness is a result of grace not merit. One day, you will have the privilege of taking that crown off and laying it at the feet of Jesus if you have received the gift of eternal life through repentance. Rev. 4:10
