Carrying Your Burden at Crypt

You need to add a widget, row, or prebuilt layout before you’ll see anything here. 🙂

Intro, disclaimer, prayer

The Thang:

Grab the burden and everyone else run until we stop.  Route was the loop around the school, stopping at every 5th light and at each light the pax would alternate between Flutter Kicks x 10IC and Gas Pumpers x 10IC.  Q will call out who carries the burden between stops.  Burden was meant to trail behind.

Strut decided to hide the burden aka 35# kettlebell, so he got to carry it first and also passed his burden on to Shandy, so he got to carry it again.

After a couple of stops, QIC noticed that some pax were moseying instead of running and gave instruction that if you weren’t carrying the burden to be up front.  Certain pax decided to ignore these instructions, so certain pax got the pleasure of carrying the burden more often than others.

Got to Cemetery Hill and went up and down a few times as well with the burden, further explaining the expectations.  Some pax tried to use their own strength only to get tired too fast and get a little burnt out, and also got frustrated.  All in all, the pax did a great job of being actors to help with the devo that was to come.

Eventually got back to the flag, covered 3ish miles and got lots of core work in as well.

Devo

The intent of carrying the burden around was planned, but then the pax helped build on the devo.  Too many times we do things like hide our burdens, not listen to the simple guidance He gives, try to let someone else carry them, drag others down with them and slow them down, use our own strength only to get worn down, or just get frustrated.  We do all of this with out doing what we should do first…and that is go to Him in prayer.  We do that last when it should be first.

Colossians 4:2 says “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving”

1 Thessalonians 5:17 says “pray without ceasing”

How many times do we ignore this and do the other things instead?  Start with prayer, and then go from there.  All the things above are examples of what the pax did today, which aren’t all bad things.  We should strive to help others, not let them go at hard things alone, be there and push them to get better and keep them accountable, etc.  But first and foremost, spend time with God in prayer and pray without ceasing.
