Today’s Saturday journey took me to Batesburg-Leesville and to the men of Smokehouse. When I think of B-L the first thing that comes to my mind is it’s high school football team. When I played HS football at Columbia High School in the mid 80’s we had a game against B-L high. They had a linebacker named Ed McDaniel. I was an offensive lineman and he ate my lunch. He would go on to play for Clemson and then was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 1992. He spent 9 years in the NFL and was selected to the pro bowl in 1992.
Also, when I think about BL I think about Shealy’s BBQ. The restaurant is full of photographs of well known celebrities and politicians who have made their way to this iconic South Carolina restaurant. The food is good too.
The men of Smokehouse are making their names known as well as F3 Nation and their impact in the community. These men are good dedicated group. Lots of mumble chatter on a 50 degree and rainy morning as 7 PAX started their day off.
Circle up for disclaimer and opening prayer. Mosey to the brick pile. Circle up for SS hops, TT tunnel, little baby arm circles etc. Pick a block and carry to the steps in front of the performing arts center. I used the deck of cards with exercises on them. PAX took turns drawing cards. The PAX did the exercise on the card while the guy who drew runs up the flight of steps at the performing arts center doing the same exercise, 5 reps, at the first flight ledge and at the top. Run over to the other flight and do the exercise at the top then and the middle and return to the group. Some of the exercises done was; BB sit ups, squats, squat jumps, burpees, Turkish get ups, etc.
Return blocks and mosey back to the deck for continued drawing cards for the remainder of the few minutes left. And recover. Great group of guys. Lots of mumble chatter. I enjoyed leading these men. They inspired me.

DEVO: From “The Book of Mysteries” by Jonathan Cahn (day #2 “The I Am of all I Ams)
It was by the second day that I realized that there would no set time frame for the teacher’s coming. He came in the afternoon.
“Do you know the name of God?” asked the teacher.
“I do not know that I do.”
“It’s made up of four Hebrew letters, the yud, the heh, the vav, an the heh: YHVH. It is the most sacred name of names, so sacred some refuse to say it. And yet you say it all the time.”
“The sacred name of God?” I replied. “How could I when I never knew it?”
“When you speak of yourself, you say the name.”
“I don’t Understand.”
“When you are happy, you say, ‘I am happy.’ And when you’re not you say ‘I am sad.’ when you tell others who you are, you say, ‘I am’ followed by your name. YVAH means ‘I Am.’ It’s the Name of the Eternal, the Name of God. His name is I Am.”
“Then we all say his name.”
“Yes. And you have always said it. It is woven into the fabric of existence that when you speak of yourself, you must say His name.”
“Why is that?”
“It’s because your existence comes from His existence. He is the I Am of all existence… the I Am of all I Ams. Your I am only exists because of His I Am. And as you exist from Him, so it is only from Him that you can find the reason and the purpose of your existence. Therefore, when you say your name, you must always speak His name. And you must always speak His name first.”
“Because His existence is first and your existence flows from His. That’s the flow of existence. Therefore, you must put Him first and then let everything flow from that. Let everything begin with Him and flow fourth from Him. That’s the secret of life. To no only live for Him, but to live your life from Him, to live from His living, to move from His moving, to act from his actions, to feel from His heart, to be from His being, and to become who you are from His being, and to become who you are from He is..I Am.”
The Mission: Today to learn the secret of living each moment from His life, doing from His doing, loving from his love, and being from his being.
