Pick a card at Turning Point

Finally a clear morning this week for the 12 PAX that gathered at TP for a beatdown pick a card style. The wind was stout, but the mumblechatter was stouter- anytime Ranger and Wapner workout together the rest of us can just sit back and listen. Good times.

Conditions- probably about 45 but with a 15 mph wind that made it feel like 35.

The THANG:

Disclaimer-Prayer- COP until Quis put his shoes on. SSH, through the tunnel, and imperial walkers all IC then we were good to go.

Mosey to the steps and hammer out some man makers (as seen on ABC Columbia with Seacrest yesterday). 10 merkins, 10 squats, 10 big boy situps, all in 1 minutes time. We added a bunny hop up the stairs to the mix. And rinse and repeated 5 times.

Moseyed to the block pile to get your block that will remain with you until the end of the workout. From there to the track where the cards came out. Not a deck of cards, but a “fit” deck of cards the M picked up a few years ago that I’ve brought out a few times. Some exercises on the cards we do exactly as stated, some exercises were significantly modified- YHC made the call. We completed the following exercises (not in this specific order) by performing 2 exercises at each curve of the track, then hauling our block in some sort of fashion (curls, overhead press, farmers carry, lunges) to the next curve for more exercises. The exercises were performed with the block most of the time where appropriate, and even times when not necessarily appropriate (Quest, Wapner with decline merkins and supermans).

Devo:

He must increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30

Prior to this verse we see both Jesus and John the Baptist baptizing people. Looks like some sort of argument or discussion between some folks about purification and being baptized- that essentially Jesus was doing the work of John the Baptist, or that their work was somehow competing. John the Baptist nips that in the bud pretty quick. He emphasizes that he isn’t the main show (not the groom “he who has the bride is the groom” v 29), but that he was sent ahead of Jesus. And then says verse 30.

Application to our day-to-day thing- in our conversations, disagreements, opportunities, etc… I think it can applied in this way- “is what I’m doing making someone who knows (or I’ve told that) Jesus lives in me increasing their perception of Jesus in me or decreasing their perception of Jesus in me?” So if I win that argument but at the cost of making that person question my love for Jesus based on the way I acted, words I said, etc…, have I won anything?

Ask God to put on our hearts a humble submission to His kingdom and His rise. We as men are competitive, prideful, stubborn, etc…, but lets ask God to pull any prideful and self-righteous thoughts or words out of our hearts so more of Him can be put on display.
