Milestones

It was 25 years ago today YHC did a most CSAUP thing and took an oath to protect and serve in the capacity of a Police Officer with the City of Forest Acres.  This was in the days before CSAUP was cool in F3 terms.  Before Twitter, before back blasts, before there was a such thing at EH.  Not sure what the weather was back then but it was a pleasant 68 degrees and 11 faithful Pax celebrated this day.  Siren Alert was in effect.  If siren heard do 10 burpees.

  • After disclaimer and opening prayer mosey to the edge of the driveway circle up for 25 SSH to commemorate YHCs 25 year police anniversary.  Mosey to the school parking lot. Line up in straight line 30 yards of high knees, butt kicks and carryoke.  Assemble at the school where the parking lot is like a figure 8.  But first one of West Columbia PD’s finest cruised through the parking lot and turned on the siren.  10 burpee to honor First Resopnders.

Start with 5 squats mosey around the edge of the parking lot and to the middle of the parking lot do 10 squats.  Mosey to the outer edge of the parking lot do 15 squats.  Mosey back to the middle and do 20 squats. Mosey back to start point and plank for the 6.  Resume same pattern with ‘mercans, Iron crosses, toe taps on curb, imperial walkers IC, calf raises.  Mosey back to shovel flag. For a few rounds of merry.  25 each of Ray Charles, LBCs, Rosalie, reverse crunches.  And recover.

Excellent effort by all.

Looking back I can name off just a few of the contributing factors which have helped me to endure what is likely one of the most stressful occupations.  #1 One job and one wife.  My wife of almost 26 years has helped me to get through some of the darkest days in my career and life.  She has helped to raise 2 God fearing kids and maintained a relatively stress free home to come to.  She has been a constant supporter, encourager, companion and friend #2 My F3 brothers who are another source of encouragement, friendship, and support #3 my brothers in Christ.  #4 most importantly my Lord God and Jesus Christ who provided me with constant strength, favor, blessing and grace my entire life.  I can also look back and say I would do this all over agian.

Aye.

T’SHUVA: Which means TO TURN AROUND

Our English Bible often speaks of “repentance,” which we often define as regret or being sorry. But the Hebrew word translated as repentance is t’shuva, which more accurately means “to turn back.” T’shuva means to turn away from evil and turn toward God. It’s when you’re heading the wrong way and you turn the steering wheel around to go in the other direction.

On a spiritual level, t’shuva is when a person changes the course of his or her life. As theologian Abraham Heschel puts it; “a change in man’s conduct brings about a change in God’s judgement.” When we t’suva—turn away from the darkness and turn toward the light—God promises to take control of the wheel and direct us toward His light.

Do you need to t’suva today? Do you need to take a moment right now to turn around and face God?
