Let’s Play, Who’s The Q?

YHC was just sitting in the bullpen playing stupid games, checking out the ladies in the stands, and talking about the night before…you know just what pitchers do; then the phone rings in the ‘pen (well a text from scheduled QIC).  “Hey Soft Toss, Pothole asked me to Q but I just got home from out of town and my M is ill, will you please take over in case I can’t make it?”  So what do I say?  “Man down (Pothole), Man down (Arrears), Man up (Soft Toss)!” I said, “sure brother, I got your 6″…he even sent me a weinke to use if needed; he even said, “it should be nice and easy and keep everyone off the (wet) ground”…great, I thought.  Well, he sent me the text weinke at 5:06 (on my way to the gloom) which is not my best time to concentrate but I thought I had it…”BLIMPS”…I can’t possible screw that up…well, I did.

Conditions:  48 degrees and calm winds.  Great Conditions (except everything was still soaked)

The Thang:

Head over to top of parking lot hill.  YHC explained BLIMPS. I did modify Arrears’ weinke as he wanted to run a lap between work stations but I opted for the hill run instead.

Burpees, run down hill and back

10 Lunges (each leg), run down hill and back

15 Imperial Walkers, run down hill and back

20 Merkins, run down hill and back

25 Plank Jacks, run down hill and back

30 Squats, run down hill and back

Pick up the 6 on the run and Flutter Kick until 6 finished work

It was later explained that the BLIMPS Q usually calls for the exercises to compound after each run…that would have really sucked but since we were finished so quickly, I went to the bullpen and brought in original AOQa to close the deal.  It was sort of like the World Series where it’s Game 7 and you extend your closer to ensure the title.  I’m going to be really honest and straight up with you about what happened next.  Neckbrace instructed the PAX to get a block and return to the parking lot in a circle. I’ve tried my best to recall exactly what happened but I’m not quite certain I got it all down and I know it’s not in the exact order; I saw stars, black, red, and maybe even pink elephants…I don’t know…it’s all a blur but here it goes:

Name-a-rama

Announcements:  P200 coming continue to train and get miles in.  We thought Donut Run is tomorrow at 5:15 (look it up).

Prayer Requests:  JD’s grandmother is not well and the worst is expected in short time.  Also, Roomate has a co-worker who has a brain tumor; she had fought off kidney cancer and it may have returned to her brain.

Moleskin:

Today was a perfect example of what F3 is all about.  Hey, stuff came up…did we cancel?  Heck no, someone stepped up (three times) to get us through it and we had a great experience in spite of my complaining about the workout (which I desperately needed).  Thank you to Pothole for volunteering and I’m sorry you are injured and couldn’t Q for your 4th anniversary with F3.  Thank you Arrears for stepping up in his absence although you had to stay back with the kids as your wife is recovering.  Thank you again to Arrears to reaching out to me to pick you up which I was glad to do.  Thank you to Neckbrace for filling in the gaps and really pushing the PAX and making us better.

Personal note:  I’m still on track (maybe behind a day) on my quest to read the entire Bible in a year.  I’ve got the YouVersion app of the Holy Bible and within the app I’m following a plan called “As It Happened”.  I’ve even learned that it will give you an audio version if you would like to listen as you drive; that really got me caught up as I was making some trips down to Charleston last week.  If you’re interested, I don’t think it’s too late to get started, you could get caught up to date if you doubled up the rest of the month.  Take it on if you like.

Last week was my worst F3 week as far as attendance goes as I only posted one time and got in 1 sad clown run but I will do better and I will hit my goal of 170 this year barring something jumping up and knocking me down.  I’m very thankful for all of you pushing me and holding me accountable for my attendance.  I’m blessed with a wonderful family and a growing (thanks to F3) group of friends.

Keep EH’n folks.  Keep encouraging the PAX to return if you haven’t seen them in a while.  Sometimes folks have stuff going on that have them down and maybe a quick text or call from you will get them moving.
