The summer is officially done, gone with a bang given yesterday’s eclipse, and it’s finally time to get back to the routine. Satchel Ford school, where many a 2.0 attends among the #Hammer #Faithful, got started at 7:20… roughly two hours after the local men gathered for a beatdown to pay a little respect to the crew that keeps the school humming along. To all who care for our kids, thank you.
Conditions: Dark like the sun is hiding behind the moon. Humid like it just did so.

From the usual gathering spot along a Forest Acres road the pax moseyed south to visit the home of the #Braves letting up at he head of the bus loop for a quick COP consisting of:
- SSH X 25, 4CT IC
- Mountain Climbers X 25, 4CT IC
- Squats X 25, 4CT IC
- Mercans X 25, 4CT IC
- LBCs X 25, 4CT IC
Continuing south and around the corner the 15 who showed up this first day of school stopped again to christen the entrance to the school with a second helping of the same COP (we like consistency):
- SSH X 25, 4CT IC
- Mountain Climbers X 25, 4CT IC
- Squats X 25, 4CT IC
- Mercans X 25, 4CT IC
- LBCs X 25, 4CT IC
With that, the first hint of the day’s task was begun. From the Satchel Ford Road side of the parking lot, each parking space in the center aisle got a burpee while moving west. Taking a break we held 6 and then went straight into Flutters X 25, 4CT IC.
Rinse and repeat going the other way to put burpees in every space on the other half of the parking lot and then finishing off with another opportunity to hold up the feet and do some more Flutters X 25, 4CT IC.
Moving to the well known drop off lane of the school itself, the following was accomplished (to which several men made snide remarks about barre style fitness which YHC ignored):
- Inverted Rows X 25, OYO
- Derkins off the curb X 25, OYO
- LBCs X 25, OYO
Upon completion, the pax rallied back out on the parking lot and grabbed a burpee for each parking space up against the drop off lane. And then, after a little Flutter Kick haitus, finished off the spaces in the center and rolling up at the end of the parking lot.
Back to the drop off line we repeated the bar set with:
- Inverted Rows X 25, OYO
- Derkins off the curb X 25, OYO
- LBCs X 25, OYO
And to complete the parking lot challenge, the pax did a burpee in every parking space around the outside of the lot… no break, just get the work in. I’m not sure if anyone counted the number but every parking space in the staff lot got its respect burpee and there were 15 of us out there dripping sweat between the lines.
With that completed, we again wandered (because that was our pace at this point in the workout) back to the bars and did a third round of:
- Inverted Rows X 25, OYO
- Derkins off the curb X 25, OYO
- LBCs X 25, OYO
With time ticking, the pax headed back around the school to the bus drop off lane for one last round of the introductory circuit of:
- SSH X 25, 4CT IC
- Mountain Climbers X 25, 4CT IC
- Squats X 25, 4CT IC
- Mercans X 25, 4CT IC
- LBCs X 50 OYO (because YHC was spent)
With a final mosey back to the shovel flag, YHC tapped Gaston to lead the pax in a final round of Flutter Kicks X 25, 4CT IC giving everyone time to get a bite or two from an ant or three lounging int the sand pit there by the shovel flag. Done.

NMM & Announcements:
- Lots of reps today. Every set had some form of Mercans (or Derkins or Burpees), Squats doubled up on the Burpees. Mountain Climbers balanced out the high Flutter count and we even snuck in some back work and an ab or two. Strong morning to kick off the school year.
- F3Manning launches this Saturday and it’s time for us to get back into gear with expansion and growth efforts. Abraham is setting up shop there and is guaranteed to lead from the front. We need to go support this one and him especially given the sad loss of this past weekend. Plan to make that your morning.
