YHC grabbed the first Saturdayvergence Q for 2022 which was at Shawshank. Lots of tough guys out there so wanted to give them a push. The new AOQ Brick sent out a preblast yesterday that included a few buzzwords like “beatdown” and “creative” and “guarantee”. So I put a weinke together that hopefully covered everything he advertised. Anyways, here he how things went down…
It sounded like a good time to put the sandbags to use. With “shared” coupons or whatever, it can be a little awkward working around the rotation of PAX. Luckily we had 9 PAX today and I had 3 sandbags, so the math worked out great.
- 1 minute warning, no FNGs, disclaimer, prayer
The warmup was a running warmup around the soccer fields, doing some exercises along the way…
- 20x SSHs OYO
- 20x Merkins OYO
- 20x Narrow Airsquats OYO (too narrow = ouch)
- 20x Flutterkicks OYO
I think those were the exercises we did along the way. We stopped where YHC had 3 sandbags waiting. The weights were 40#, 60#, 80#. For the rest of the workout we did some exercises, then got the sandbags across the field and back, in 3 man teams, using various methods. Each 3 man team took turns getting the sandbag across, handed off to their partner, came back across, did exercises, handed to their partner, and rinse-n-repeat. After each team member did a sandbag weight, they moved to the next sandbag (40# moved to 60#, moved to 80#, moved to 40#). The idea is that everyone got to every sandbag. The team members without the sandbag mosied alongside.
(I am starting to realize that this would be easier demonstrated than written).
- First carry method
- Exercises (there were 4 rounds total) = 10x Diamond Merkins, 20x Lunges, 30x LBCs
- Carry method = carry the sandbag on your back
- Second carry method
- Exercises (there were 4 rounds total) = 10x Donkey Kicks, 20x AirSquats, 30x Monkey Humpers
- Carry method = carry the sandbag on your front
- Third carry method
- Exercises (there were 4 rounds total) = 10x BBSUs, 20x Invisible Jump Ropes, 30x Calf Raises
- Carry method = with a rope attached, backward drag
- Final carry method
- With time coming to a close, we chained all the sandbags together in a line. We team (of 3 or 4) bearcrawl dragged the sandbag chain to ~midfield and back, swapping the PAX out as needed.
So that was a wrap. We grabbed the goodies and got thing back in my Jeep (thanks for that!).
