Tha Thang:

Forward: I promised the PAX that there would be no running, sprinting, bear crawling, lunging, broad jumping, walking, moseying, or any forward movement of any kind. And I kept that promise. I also promised: no burpees, no lying on the ground, and the reps would be low. And I kept all of those promises as well.

This was a workout even Hostel couldn’t make complicated.

I asked JDee to bring a speaker and music of his choosing. I learned that the PAX have very different music tastes. I’m sorry JDee.

The workout went down like this…

Devo:

Acts 24:16 “So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man.”

I pray every time for us for God to “shed some light into those dark corners of our heart that we don’t like to talk about.” I pray this because I have my own dark corners. We all do. And so did those before us. This is why God placed this in the Bible because He knew that we would.

It is vital for every Christian to keep a clear conscience. The apostle Paul knew this and as he was on trial, he said these words in his own defense. Like us, Paul knew that he would stand trial before God one day. Until then, on a daily basis, we must clear our conscience as a means of dealing with guilt, haunted thoughts, pridefulness, spiritual dryness, and ignorance of discipline. Paul even emphasizes this as he says, “I strive always…”

Another way Paul emphasizes the importance is with the word, “strive.” To strive, is to make great efforts to achieve something. We are very good at becoming complacent at the slightest resistance or laziness. It’s easy to feel good about something one week, and then do nothing the next as you ride that good feeling. Striving is ever-happening. Do you think David Goggins would agree you should take a few weeks off from working out? [insert profanity laden tirade here] No! We can’t do that in our spiritual lives either.

This verse also says to “…keep my conscience clear before God and man.” This is not an “or” statement. It is important to confess your sins to God (1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness”). It is also important to confess to one another (James 5:16 “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed.”). It’s therapeutic to ‘get things off your chest’ when you’re going through something. I’ve lived this many times over with some of my closest friends I’ve made through F3. I’ve also not been diligent and have kept a lot to myself.

The more you hold in, the bigger chance you have of imploding. Better to explode and let someone help you through the healing process, than to implode and suffer alone.

Pothole out.
