Striders “Finish the Course”

17 pax posted at the opening BOM, then we were joined by 1 ninja pax who arrived on foot.  I don’t like naming names, but evidently there was a “Malfunction” with his alarm, and we were happy for him to join us near the “Junction” of Highway 6 and Hightway 1.

45 miniute Out and Back: Depart from the courthouse, run for 22.5 minutes toward Lowe’s and then turn around and come back.

Moelskin: a Quick tip for “out and back” runs – when runners a head of you turn around and pass you, that should be a clue for you to turn around and head back along with them.

Devotional:

“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” (James 4:14-15 NIV)

Upon hearing the news that a friend near my age passed away in his sleep the night before, it reminded me of the verse above and that we are not promised tomorrow or our next breath.  Every night this week I have gone to bed with the plan of where I will post this morning, assuming it to be a guarantee.

But what if it is not?  What if today is the last day, when the LORD says “PENCILS DOWN, turn in your work”, but my test is not complete…. I’m not finished…. I skipped a few hard questions that I was going to come back to later… I need just a little more time to finish….

I had a long look in the mirror last night… and it wasn’t pretty.  3 Questions came to mind:

1. What will my children say about me?
2. What will my wife say about me?
3. What will God say about me?

Would each one know how much I loved them? Did I tell them? Did I show them?

One thing I hope to do is to make sure that at the end of everyday, these questions are answered completely, leaving behind no unfinished business.
