Just another lap around the park.

Recently my work schedule has made it hard to forecast my Q opportunities – to the point where I’ve had to bail on a couple.  Filling open Q slots at the last minute has been working out better for me.  And today was one of those days.  This was my second visit to Jumanji so I arrived early for a couple miles of recon duty (aka, counting light poles).  One FNG (Jason Rhodes, used to golf (and a lot of other things) before he got married, lives right next to the AO >> “Par 4”) arrived as expected and was welcomed by all.

Weather: cool, nice break from the heat!!!

1 minute warning, intro, welcome FNG, disclaimer, prayer.

Mosey to the brick pile and grab 2 bricks.  Circle up in the parking lot for some warm up exercises consisting of:

  • 15x SSHs IC
  • 15x TTTs IC
  • 15x PlankJacks IC
  • 15x FlutterKicks IC

Grab your bricks and go to “pole 1” on the path that circles the park.  At every other pole an exercise was performed, then we moved as a group two poles down.  Since there are about 40 light poles around the path, it worked out just right.  Using your bricks, the exercises consisted of:

  • 10 BURPEEs with 1 MERKIN in the middle, jog 2 poles down
  • 10 SQUATs with 1 OVERHEAD PRESS while “seated”, jog 2 poles down
  • 9 BURPEEs with 2 MERKINs in the middle, jog 2 poles down
  • 9 SQUATs with 2 OVERHEAD PRESSs while “seated”, jog 2 poles down
  • 8 BURPEEs with 3 MERKINs in the middle, jog 2 poles down
  • 8 SQUATs with 3 OVERHEAD PRESSs while “seated”, jog 2 poles down
  • 7 BURPEEs with 4 MERKINs in the middle, jog 2 poles down
  • 7 SQUATs with 4 OVERHEAD PRESSs while “seated”, jog 2 poles down
  • 6 BURPEEs with 5 MERKINs in the middle, jog 2 poles down
  • 6 SQUATs with 5 OVERHEAD PRESSs while “seated”, jog 2 poles down
  • 5 BURPEEs with 6 MERKINs in the middle, jog 2 poles down
  • 5 SQUATs with 6 OVERHEAD PRESSs while “seated”, jog 2 poles down
  • 4  BURPEEs with 7 MERKINs in the middle, jog 2 poles down
  • 4 SQUATs with 7 OVERHEAD PRESSs while “seated”, jog 2 poles down
  • 3 BURPEEs with 8 MERKINs in the middle, jog 2 poles down
  • 3 SQUATs with 8 OVERHEAD PRESSs while “seated”, jog 2 poles down
  • 2 BURPEEs with 9 MERKINs in the middle, jog 2 poles down
  • 2 SQUATs with 9 OVERHEAD PRESSs while “seated”, jog 2 poles down
  • 1 BURPEE with 10 MERKINs in the middle, jog 2 poles down
  • 1 SQUAT with 10 OVERHEAD PRESSs while “seated”

That tallied up to 55 burpees, 220 merkins, 55 squats, 220 overhead presses.

This took us to the end of the path, but not the end of the workout.  We used the remaining time to get in some:

  • 100x Calf Raises (partner up for balance, do 100 each, break up as necessary)
  • 40x FlutterKicks
  • 3x leg lifts from 6″ to straight up, holding about 10 seconds each
  • 20x FlutterKicks
  • 3x leg lifts from 6″ to straight up, holding about 10 seconds each

With time running out, everyone take the bricks back and do some CURLS FOR THE GIRLs OYO on the way.

The mumblechatter was good.  There was a some talk from the FNG about seeing Ralph out there, but he kept things in check.  Also, it was decided that doing calf raises while using a partner in front for balance is an exercise better done in the dark – and will not likely make any F3 promotional videos.
