8 pax crush some brick work and awkward core work at Boneyard, good thing it was dark

YHC eased his aching body out of the fartsack this morning thinking “What in the world was I thinking signing up to Q!!!”.  The cold that seemed to disappear at the end of last week crept up quickly this morning, which didn’t help the aches at all from the events that occurred last week.  Regardless, YHC had work to do.  It was time to man up, so YHC put his shoes on slowly and slowsey’d out the door into the gloom.

YHC spoke about overcoming what seem like impossible tasks.  It takes teamwork and faith not just in each other but in God to help you overcome these seemingly impossible tasks.  This came from the efforts of the 57 pax who took on the GORUCK Heavy this past weekend.  We were given what seemed like impossible tasks to complete, even the cadre doubted that we would accomplish some of these tasks (of course we did not know this at the time).

The team picked up and moved what seemed like a mountain of a log up and out of the marsh, onto the shoulders, and over the Cooper River Bridge.  When staring up at the entrance of the bridge, YHC did not think it was remotely possible to get this log over the bridge.  Of course he didn’t think we’d get the log out of the marsh either, and we did as a team.  Then slowly, we took off as a team, and slowly moved this mountain of a log up and over the Cooper River Bridge.  Together as a team, we didn’t give up on each other, we didn’t quit, because it wasn’t about us.  It was about the guy to the left and right of us.  If someone quit, that fell on the team.

Each and every step of the way during this event the men of F3 were challenged.  There was no individual effort.  Not one individual could budge that log.  However, as a team we could move a mountain.  When times got tough, we stopped and prayed.  When we accomplished a task, we stopped and prayed.  And then of course, when we finished as a team we came together for the infamous BOM and prayed as a team.

None of this would have been possible without the brotherhood that we forged through pain and adversity.  And none of it would have been possible without faith in each other, and more importantly faith in God.  We needed to have faith that God would give us the strength when it seemed like we couldn’t go on any futher.  The endurance to push on when we were told to do a PT test at 17 hours in.  The will to move when we thought we were done.  And the courage to embrace each other when we fell into our dark times.

To paraphase a prayer that was said more than once during the event, “Father we know that there will come a day when we can no longer do these things, but TODAY IS NOT THAT DAY!”

So have faith in yourself, but know that no task is impossible because we all have a brotherhood that will help us move mountains and overcome the impossible.  A faith that has been forged by iron sharpening iron is has the strength of Gods word filling it.

YHC didn’t have a scripture at the time, but then one well known stood out on his drive home.  Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all this through him who gives me strength”.  Keep the faith, and know that you’re never alone.
