4 Years of F3 and Burpees

YHC celebrated 4 years of this F3 thing with some of the finest pax around. My neighbor, Doc Luvin’, asked me a great question 4 years ago this week…”Hey, what are you doing tomorrow morning at 5:30″? My reply…”I don’t know”. He told me to be on my front steps at 5:15 and he would bring coffee. Fresh coffee first thing in the morning? I’m in. That started a new chapter of life and opened the door to way too many TWSS jokes. A plethora of solid dudes have come into my life and I am better because of them.

4 years ago, YHC could crush a 5K in a cool 45 minutes and probably execute a nifty 2 burpees. My first BC showed me how inept I was at physical activity as Hash laid out an awesome Q. Had Doc Luvin’ been honest about the morning festivities, I probably would have held out for a 2nd cup of black gold. Anyway, I was partnered up with some dude named Cowbell. Awesome dude, 100% encouragement. This man got me through those 45 minutes and I was hooked. Thanks, Cowbell, for the push and encouragement on day 1. 4 years in, same story as a bunch of dudes…doing things I never thought I could do…D2D, P200, Spartan Race, goofy events, middle school jokes, and more eye rolls from the M.

So, YHC hijacked the Q sheet and inserted Garth’s name into Tueday’s Q and removed Cheers. I was not in the mood to bear crawl. Alas, congestion and coughing got the better of me and I skipped the Garth beatdown. Thankfully, these dudes hold no grudges and came out in force today. The guys had a choice to workout under the shelter and out of the rain, or out in the elements. Our resident lifeguard, Hash, spoke up and said the elements. Not one to argue with a certified lifesaver and AOQ, it was out in the elements for us. What an awesome day and perfect way to get over the sickness that ails me.

Sidenote on the studs posting today…

Gills – wearer of younger sister’s shorts, fastest pax in Shawshank, genuinely a nice fella who is barely old enough to shave.

Doc Luvin’ – awesome neighbor for a decade, EH master, true friend with a great family.

Cheers – awkward story teller, jokes leave a little to be desired (TWSS), hospitable little fella.

Brick – always taking his shirt off to see if his abs are like mine, master of killer Q’s.

Coon Dog – constant constructive critique, master of modifying, a few reps short of a full BC, still a solid dude.

Garth – amazing to watch, constant charger in BC and prayer, blossomed into a great encourager.

Hash & Rice – impatient, always yelling for us to hurry up, still searching for a place for pull-up bars, offered words of wisdom in the past, going to be a solid AOQ.

Duff – great running buddy, awful trivia host, starts bundling up for winter when temps hit the 60’s, more time on the road than most big-rigs.

Ken Doll – this is a special dude. Always encouraging, always going back for the 6, true embodiment of F3. Sports history and music buff. Great sharer of big whiteboards.

Special shout out to some dudes who were MIA today for various reasons…Dunphy, Lego, Knozit, Buzz Saw. These guys have all pushed me to get better as well.

Thanks to Shawshank and F3 Lexington for a great 4 years. YHC plans on sticking with it until Coon Dog has his respect Q.

1 minute warning, disclaimer, no FNG’s, open in prayer.

Closing thought shared with the gang: Iron sharpens iron has a real and special meaning when you surround yourself with the right kind of men. Going from an isolated loner, to a world-renowned Soaker (self acclaimed), F3 has brought this verse in Proverbs to life for me. Thanks to all the guys who have invested time in me to make me better for my M, my 2.0’s, my little Jenny, my workplace, my community, and most of all, the way I live for my Savior.
