Circle of Fun in the Gloom

Conditions: Nice, humid fall morning. 66 degrees

25 guys levitated out of the fart sack this morning and got better (Could have been 26, Stagecoach…). I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m better because of Depot, our guys, and your accountability. I’ve been doing this consistently since May 2015 and my mindset is still the same: I’ve never looked forward to a workout; but I’ve never left a workout I regretted.

We had some fun, here’s how it went down:

Warm Up:
SSH – 20 IC
TTT – 15 IC
Imperial Walkers – 15 IC
Windmill – 15 IC
Overhead Arm Clap – 25 IC

Grab a block, head to the big field under the Tuesday morning lights.

At Depot, sometimes we skip or don’t warm up enough. So we continued our “warm up” with all pax mozying to every light pole on the field. At each light pole, every pax did 5 merkins and 5 jumping squats.

Now, to the main event, we had a deck of cards and the exercises below. Somehow, it felt like there were more 5’s, 10’s, and Face cards than a normal deck has. All pax formed a full circle and with 25, this circle had some impressive girth. Going counterclockwise, one at a time, each pax bear-crawled to the middle, flipped a card over, and this determined the exercise everyone did, which consisted of:

2: Tricep Extension: 10 OYO – Single Count
3: Overhead Presses: 20 OYO – Single Count
4: Carolina Dry Docks: 20 OYO – Single Count
5: Merkins: 20 OYO – Single Count
6: Curls: 20 OYO – Single Count
7: Flutter Kicks – 50 OYO – Single Count
8: Jumping Squats – 20 OYO – Single Count
9: Circular Bear Crawl / Lunge Walk (Stop where you start)
10: Overhead Clap – 25 IC – Double Count
Face Card – Merkins – 10 OYO – SC
Ace / Joker: Sprint down and back (we did 2)

Prayers: TNTs friend who he served with just recently took his own life. Reach out to our brother TNT and let him know you are there for him. I found this prayer online, and felt like it was only fitting to honor those who serve (and have served) us.

A Prayer for Those Who Protect Our Nation

Dear God, Please be with the men and women in uniform, who bravely serve our communities and nation every single day. We ask that you cover them with your protection, that you would be their guiding force who leads the way, and their rear guard who keeps them safe from behind. We ask that you would draw them to yourself amidst the dangers they face in a dark world, for you are the Truth, you are the Way, you are the Light.

When the voice of hate rises up against them, we ask that you would silence it. When the plans of the enemy rise up to cause them to stumble, we ask that you would thwart it. When the forces of evil rise up to strike them down, we ask that you would stop it. Lord, we know how powerful you are, all have heard of your Great Name, and we ask that you would indeed be the wind beneath their wings, the power behind their efforts, the heart behind their service, as they are on the front lines against evil in our world today.

Help them to walk wisely. To stay covered in your armor. Give them godly discernment. Make them constantly aware of what lurks close by. Help them to be men and women of prayer, realizing that this is where their greatest help comes from. Help them to stay united and strong, bold and resolute, determined and unwavering.

Lord bless all those who wear the uniform, who serve our cities, our nation, our people. Bless their families. Bless those they love. Give them your great favor, this day, and every day. And thank you that as believers, we can be assured, you never leave us, and you are with us always, in this life, and the next. In the Powerful and Present Name of Jesus, Amen. ~ Debbie McDaniel – https://www.crosswalk.com/faith/prayer/a-prayer-for-our-soldiers.html
