Weather Conditions: 37° brrrrr…
6 Pax dared to challenge the first real cold of the season for boot camp. Fresh off an almost perfect Gauntlet run, YHC wanted to bring a little bit of AMRAP back to the AO for all to enjoy. Abs were the mission today, and the Pax were not going to let some wet ground stop them from crushing the workout. Attendance being a little down did not stop these men from putting in some strong work! 2 for StrideLite for some early miles. Here is how it went:
Disclaimer and Prayer
Mosey around the side walk and circle up on the corner of the field

Devo: Defeated by Division
The Cold Within
Six humans trapped by happenstance
In dark and bitter cold
Each possessed a stick of wood—
Or so the story’s told.
Their dying fire in need of logs,
But the first one held hers back,
For, of the faces around the fire,
She noticed one was black.
The next one looked cross the way
Saw one not of his church,
And could not bring himself to give
The fire his stick of birch.
The third one sat in tattered clothes
He gave his coat a hitch,
Why should his log be put to use
To warm the idle rich?
The rich man just sat back and thought
Of wealth he had in store,
And keeping all that he had earned
From the lazy, shiftless poor.
The black man’s face bespoke revenge
As the fire passed from his sight,
For he saw in his stick of wood
A chance to spite the white.
And the last man of this forlorn group
Did nought except for gain,
Giving just to those who gave
Was how he played the game,
Their sticks held tight in death’s stilled hands
Was proof enough of sin;
They did not die from cold without—
They died from cold within.

As Jon Gordon sited from his book “The Garden”, and pointed out recently, there have been a lot of the 5 D’s playing out:
1. Doubt
2. Distortion (lies)
3. Discouragement
4. Distraction
5. Division
Elections can be divisive times, as personal priorities and agendas come to for the forefront, but we as Americans cannot let that drive us apart. As we state in our Pledge of Allegiance,we are “…one Nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. Although we cannot control others, once the ballets are cast and the final decision is determined, further division can only cause harm. As men of F3, part of our challenge is to be leaders in the community. Let’s not take the bait and hate. Let’s not let bitterness take root. Let’s overcome the division with trust, encouragement, love, and unity.
