7 years of brotherhood at Shawshank

7 years of F3…when you say it like that you wonder where it’s gone, as Red says in Shawshank Redemption, paraphrasing, of course. In some ways, it feels like a short time, which it relatively is, but in others, it feels like F3 has always been a part of my life. It’s hard to imagine sometimes life without it, just like imagining a time before your kids were born. You didn’t know you were missing something in your life until you had it. I sure do love my brothers and thankful that I have them to add to the many blessings in my life. I am beyond grateful to God for them and my family.

Here’s how it went today:

Devo:

“In the same way, though there are many of us, we are one body in Christ, and individually we
belong to each other.”   ~Romans 12:5

One thing I have learned in my 7 years of F3, is that we cannot do this thing called life, alone. We may have wives and children who will be there for us through all of our ups, downs, highs, lows, triumphs, and turmoil, but they will never fully understand what it means to be a man. We need other men to turn to for advice and to be beacons for us when we need it the most. Only men can fully understand what we are going through. In this group, F3, where there are many of us, we can find a common theme, that as children of God, we are one. All of our hopes, dreams, sadness, and disappointments can be shared and understood by all, making us one unit going through the same season under God.

Our wives and children are the greatest gift from God. This can never be forgotten. However, other men are placed in our lives to help us honor this gift daily.
