Turning Point was Too Tough to Tame on Saturday

(Written by and humbly posted for Shake-n-Bake)

When the Q’s alarm clock went off early Saturday morning, he peeked out the window only to see the pouring rain.  He thought to himself, I’ll drive up to the Turning Point AO, no one will show, and I’ll head back home.  Much to the Q’s delight, 14 Pax braved the driving rain to get a wet and muddy beat down at the hands of Shake N’ Bake. (While learning a little old school NASCAR knowledge during the process.)

Warm up with a lap around the road course of Watkins Glen.
Mixed in the lap were:
Side Straddle Hops
Through the Tunnel
Gorilla Squats
LBCs (Yes, on the ground, in the mud)
We located the bricks to add to the fun.
On the hill, (which we referred to as the 30 degree banking of Daytona), we bear crawled up the hill, with bricks in hand.  Waiting at the top were 10 Burpees, 10 Imperial Squats, 10 Merkins.  Then jog to the bottom.
Rinse and repeat 5 times to the count of 8 reps, 6 reps, 4 reps and 2 reps.
The Pax got a short recovery with a jog around Darlington (2 wide).
The pax then split into 3 small Bristol circle tracks.
In rotation, one man at a time, we did 20 Plank Jacks, then 15, then 10, then 5.
Unfortunately, the pax then hit the wall coming out of turn 4.  So we headed for some wall sits (with Bricks) at the top of the hill.
Back at the bottom, the pax got back in their Bristol circle tracks for a rotation of Merkins to the counts of 20 – 15 – 10 – 5.
Then back around Darlington, again 2 x 2, this time with Indian Runs.
Back to the bricks, in a big circle, we “drove the steering wheel”, and did the Darrel Waltrip “Jaws”.  (The Q never did like Darrel Waltrip)
As the Q asked the Pax, “How do people normally get into the infield at the big race tracks?”  They all answered in unison, “Through the Tunnel.”  So we all lined up for a great over/under version of the Tunnel of Love, mud style!!!
Before putting the bricks away, we finished with some Curls for the Girls and some Parker Peters, which the Q referred to as a figure 8 race track.
A lot of NASCAR knowledge was thrown at the pax through out the morning, some interesting, some maybe not so much.  BUT YOU HAD TO BE THERE TO HEAR IT.
Prayer:
Before the prayer, Shake N’ Bake spoke at length on how much F3, and the men of F3, mean to him.  How enjoyable it is to workout and fellowship with other men that have the same values and morals.  During the prayer, we reminded ourselves to go to God in times of joy just as much as in times of need.  To talk to God on a regular basis and thank him for the good times.
