YHC signed up for the 10/13 Q for a reason. This is the birth date for his Grandma and brother-in-law. Good memories with each of these folks but today was all about Shawn. 10/13/71 – 2/22/02.
Shawn was gone too early by our standards. 30 years old, solid dude, top notch matchmaker (YHC and the M), friend, brother, son, husband. Missed by quite a few folks but he left behind a ton of memories for those who knew him. More to come later.
Shawshank was foggy, the fields were a tad damp but a relatively dry spot was found for the work. 1 lonely pax hit the streets for SL (way to go, Coon Dog). Time for fun was quickly approaching and half a dozen studs gathered by the flag.
1 minute warning, disclaimer, no FNG’s, open in prayer.
Mosey to the upper fields and circle up.
SSH x 30 IC, TTT x 15 IC, Michael Phelps x 15 IC.
Mosey across the sidewalk to the one light that was on and, behold, 5 pieces of paper were nicely laid out on the ground.
Thang:

H – hand release merkins x 30

After each exercise, run the length of the field and return for the next exercise.
Round 3 – 15 of each exercise above (S’s then run, H’s then run, A’s then run, W’s then run, N’s then run).

Devo: We have all gone through valleys in life. You might be in one now or getting ready to enter one. The Bible is full of God promising to always be with his children. I know the dark times are tough, lonely, filled with anger, and a ton of other emotions. These are okay. God gives us emotions for a reason. He also gives us the promise to always be with us. Deut 31:6 – Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. We lost Shawn right after he turned 30. This loss impacted our family for years, and still does. The valleys were low and dark, but looking back, we were never alone. You are not alone either. Reach out to a F3 brother if you need help, but more importantly, reach out to God. His word is solid.
