Playing around with some blocks and toys at Jumanji

YHC didn’t get into bed until late so I was kinda running on fumes this morning.  Without a pre-planned weinke in hand, I grabbed a couple toys from the garage and headed towards Jumanji for a little StrideLite.  Luckily I came up with something that hopefully challenged the pax.

Conditions:  nice, but humid, mostly clear sky.

1 minute, no FNGs, disclaimer, prayer.

Mosey to the blocks, each grab 1 block, mosey to the blockless warmup…

  • 20x SSHs
  • 20x LBACs (10 forward, 10 reverse)
  • 20x AIRSQUATs (2 count down, 2 up)
  • 20x FLUTTERKICKs

Grab your block, mosey inside the baseball field towards right field where some cones were set up approximately 50 feet apart.  Each do the following reps OYO carrying your block overhead in between (which changed for many to on your shoulder about midway).

  • Cone 1 – 1x BLOCK SWING, carry brick (overhead or shoulder) to Cone 2
  • Cone 2 – 15x BLOCK SQUATs, carry brick (overhead or shoulder) to Cone 1
  • Cone 1 – 2x BLOCK SWINGs, carry brick (overhead or shoulder) to Cone 2
  • Cone 2 – 14x BLOCK SQUATs, carry brick (overhead or shoulder) to Cone 1
  • continue on until
  • Cone 1 – 15x BLOCK SWINGs, carry brick (overhead or shoulder) to Cone 2
  • Cone 2 – 1x BLOCK SQUAT, carry brick (overhead or shoulder) to Cone 1

When everyone finished this series, we reset for another series.  This time the pax split up into two groups.  Group 1 performed shrugs while Group 2 ran to the “toys” which was your choice of a rope, baseballs, or softballs where you did as many pullups (or hung, or whatever you could do) as practical.

  • Group 1 – 21x SHRUGs using 2 blocks, run to the pull up area
  • Group 2 – Perform PULLUPs using ROPE, BASEBALL or SOFTBALL for grips, run to shrug area
  • Group 1 – 20x SHRUGs using 2 blocks, run to the pull up area
  • Group 2 – Perform PULLUPs using ROPE, BASEBALL or SOFTBALL for grips, run to shrug area
  • continue on until
  • Group 1 – ~14x SHRUGs using 2 blocks, run to the pull up area
  • Group 2 – Perform PULLUPs using ROPE, BASEBALL or SOFTBALL for grips, run to shrug area

Time expired when everyone was on their round of 14 shrugs, I think.  Collect and return all the blocks and toys.
