Field Trip

YHC migrated from the friendly confines of Jumanji and joined the delinquents of Detention on a 50 degree morning.

The delinquents have been well behaved as of lately.  After disclaimer and opening prayer we took a field trip over to the Oak Grove Softball and stopped a few times along the way to warm up (SSH, TT Tunnel, Hip Rotations).  A softball field was utilized to do one of YHC’s favorite workouts.

Start at left field foul pole and do 5 squats.  Run/Jog/Sprint to the first light pole do 5 merkens.  Run/Jog/Sprint to next light pole do 5 BB sit ups.  Run/Jog/Sprint to next Run/Jog/Sprint to right field foul pole do 5 iron crosses.  Run/Jog/Sprint to the edge of the infield do 5 burpees.  Run/Jog/Sprint to backstop do 20 calf raises.  Run/Jog/Sprint to the edge of the infield do 5 burpees (3rd base side).  Run/Jog/Sprint to left field foul pole and increase the reps of exercises by 5.  Going up as far as 20 and back down to 5 (Burpees and calf raises stay the same).  Due to time PAX got up to 20 and then down to 15 and it was time to mosey back to the shovel flag.  Upon return our time was up.  Good work effort by these men.  Always a pleasure to lead these men.

DEVO:  From the series “7 more Hebrew words every believer should  know.”  The Bible App.

YIRAH: Which means FEAR

When my wife and I saw this red sky over our backyard in Georgia, we called our girls to see it too because we were in awe. We were in awe of the colors, the shapes, and the God who created this spectacular scene.

The Hebrew word we translate as “awe” is yirah, which also means “respect, reverence, and worship.” Yirah also means “fear.” I grew up thinking to “fear the Lord” meant to be afraid of Him, but as we watched this stunning sunset, I didn’t feel fear. I felt awe and reverence. I felt yirah.

Having the type of awe and reverence for God that motivates us to do His will is the beginning of wisdom. Do you fear the Lord today?

2 Cor 13:5  5Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
